Lawrence Mrs. Dora Ausburn Lawrence, 91, of Alto, Hollingsworth Community, died Thursday, May 3, 2001, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce, following a short illness. A lifelong resident of Banks County, Mrs. Lawrence was born August 7, 1909. She was a daughter of the late Grant and Daisy Pressley Ausburn and the wife of the late James B. Lawrence. Mrs. Lawrence was a homemaker and was a member of Damascus Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by four sons, James Lawrence, Johnny Lawrence, Pete Lawrence and Rudolph Ausburn, and two brothers, Hubert Ausburn and Plummer Ausburn. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 6, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Revs. Gene Todd and Billy Burrell officiating. Burial was in the Damascus Baptist Church cemetery. Survivors include three daughters, Latrelle Lawrence, Baldwin, Ruby Nell Cochran, Carnesville, and Isabelle Gosnell, Colbert; three sons, Doc Lawrence, Alto, Howard "Gray" Lawrence, Baldwin, and Wayne Lawrence, Homer; three sisters, Monteen Poole and Marie Mealor, both of Toccoa, and Belle Wade, Alto; 24 grandchildren, 37 great- grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. Brown, 67, of Hartwell, died Wednesday, May 2, 2001. A native of Rockdale, Texas, Mrs. Brown was a daughter of the late Samuel C. Daniels and Mary Scott Daniels. She was a former resident of Oconee County and was a retired waitress. Memorial services were held at 7 p.m. Friday, May 4, at Arthur Bowick's Oconee Chapel, Watkinsville, with the Rev. Carlton Shelton officiating. A private burial was held in Texas. Survivors include four daughters, Patricia McKasson, Colbert, Hazel Dickerson, Nicholson, Glenda Fincher, Waco, Texas, and Kathy Burton, Kansas City, Mo.; one son, Ross Brown, Hendersonville, Texas; one sister, Maggie Hawthorne, Burnett, Texas; one brother, Buck Daniel, Killeen, Texas; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Robertson Mrs. Geneva Ragsdale Robertson, 80, of Commerce, formerly of Buford, died Saturday, May 5, 2001. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 7, in the chapel of Tim Stewart Funeral Home, Lawrenceville, with the Rev. Kyle Baber officiating. Burial was in Sugar Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Robertson is survived by four children, Vanessa Manders and W.T. Ragsdale, both of Commerce, Lavonia Hudson, Cleveland, and Donna Moon, Dacula; two sisters, Joyce Jones, Decatur, Ala., and Jo Walstead, Clearwater, Fla.; two brothers, Jack Whitehead, Ft. Pierce, Fla., and John Whitehead, Tampa, Fla.; 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Cain Mrs. Nelle Hall Cain, 66, of Jefferson, died Monday, May 7, 2001, at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Cain was born December 16, 1934, in Madison County. She was a daughter of the late Pinion Price Hall and Pauline Hall (Craig) Jenkins. She was a seamstress and was a member of Victory Baptist Church. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, at Victory Baptist Church with the Revs. Swayne Cochran and Hulon Hill officiating. She was a homemaker and was a member of Rock Branch Baptist Church. Mrs. Crider was preceded in death by her first husband, Olin Clark Jones, and her second husband, Charles Crider. Gau Robert Clarence Gau, 69, of Maysville, died Friday, May 4, 2001. A native of Dubuque County, Iowa, Mr. Gau was born November 15, 1931. He was a son of the late Clarence C. and Geneva Ann Herkes Gau. Mr. Gau was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard and was retired from Vulcan Materials. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Mr. Gau is survived by a sister, Betty J. Daly, Maysville. Burroughs, 78, of Athens, formerly of the Neese Community, died Thursday, May 3, 2001. A native and longtime resident of Madison County, Mr. Burroughs was a son of the late D.I. and Pinkie C. Martin Burroughs. He was a retired farmer and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Burroughs was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charlie Burroughs, two sisters, Lillian Waller and Addie Ruth Burroughs, and a granddaughter, Laura Bridges. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 5, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, Danielsville, with the Rev. Ray Jenkins officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church cemetery. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Jane B. and Clifford Bridges, Hull; two grandchildren, Amy Stephens, Commerce, and Amanda Bridges, Athens; and two great-grandchildren.
