He was born on April 7, 1911, and grew up in Madison County, the only child of Robert F. Bird, Sr., and Ona Freeman Bird. He graduated from the Business school of the University of Georgia in 1932 and was an accountant. He was an avid golfer in Athens, Gainesville, and Stone Mountain. He was a member of Mt. Hermon Presbyterian Church, Ila, GA. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Doris Richardson Bird, originally of Forest Park; two daughters, Rosalyn Ward, Loganville, and Helen and Michael Schuler of Grayson; four grandchildren, Teresa Ward Pridgen, CA, Jason Ward, Atlanta, Steven Schuler, Grayson, and Jennifer Schuler, Grayson; and one great grandchild, Torsten Pridgen. Visitation will be held at Tom M. Wages Funeral Home, Snellville Chapel, on Tuesday, March 27 between 6-8 p.m. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, March 28 at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Park, Athens, GA, with Rev. Susan Reggin officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either Mount Hermon Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 357, Ila, GA 30647 or Embracing Hospice Care, Eastside Heritage Center, 2160 Fountain Drive, Snellville, GA 30078, in memory of Mr. Robert Francis Bird. Tom M.
