A Georgia native, Mr. Thurmond was a son of Ellaree Wade, Alto, and Guy Dalton, Ila, and was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Dalton. He was employed as a logger. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Doug Duncan officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Baptist Church cemetery, Alto. Survivors include three daughters, Gail Sellers and Pam Dellinger, both of Danielsville, and Cynthia Bond, Royston; two sisters, Carol Dalton, Danielsville, and Ruth Kesler, Homer; seven brothers, Melvin Dalton, Lloyd Dalton and William R. Dalton, all of Danielsville, Charles Dalton and Earl Dalton, both of Colbert, Guy Dalton, Gainesville, and Gene Wade, Alto; and eight grandchildren.
