Dove, 76, of Iron Station, N.C., died Sunday, March 3, 2002. Mrs. Dove was born in Clarke County, a daughter of the late Rev. Theo L. Christian and Modie Norine Darnell Christian. She was retired from Belk’s Department Store. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dove was preceded in death by her husband, Claudie L. Dove, and a brother, Edward L. Christian. His wife, Ernestine Hutchins Adams, also preceded him in death. Mr. Adams was a retired radio terminal tester with Southern Bell and was a member of Gordon’s Chapel United Methodist Church. She was a daughter of the late George Wesley and Emmie Seay Bruce. Mrs. Bruce was retired from Commerce Sportswear and was of the Baptist denomination. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Homer Eubanks, her second husband, Bill Butler, and her third husband, Carlton Bruce. Underwood James Releford Underwood, 79, of Pendergrass, died Sunday, March 10, 2002, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville, following an extended illness. Mr. Underwood was born July 26, 1922, in Jackson County. He was a son of the late Paul and Sara Smith Underwood. Mr. Underwood was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in World War II, and was retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Jefferson. Mr. Underwood was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Gee Underwood, and a son, Tony Underwood. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, with Dr. Gerald Mitton officiating. Hilliard Hughes Robert Hilliard, 72, of Comer, died Sunday, March 10, 2002. A native of Kingstree, S.C., Mr. Hilliard was a son of the late Hughes Robert and Juanita Gayton Hilliard. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served on the USS Tarawa, and was a lifetime member of AmVets Post 10. Mr. Hilliard was a member of VFW Post 2872 and the American Legion, Lexington. Memorial services will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 17, at AmVets Post 10. Mr. Hilliard is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Hughes and Sandi Gail Hilliard, Colbert; a grandson, Cyrus Hilliard, Colbert; and AmVets Post 10 members. Wilson Bobby Jack Wilson, of Danielsville, died Saturday, March 9, 2002. A native of Newton County, Mr. Wilson was a son of the late Dewey and Ruby Scott Wilson. A son, Ricky Wilson, also preceded him in death. Mr. Wilson was retired from the Athens-Clarke County Fire Department, with 27 years of service with rank of Lieutenant. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served with the Service Battery, 357 ABR, Field Artillery Battalion, 187 Airborne Regimental Combat Team from 1950-1951. Mr. Wilson also served in the 357th BN Headquarters and the 1014th QM Headquarters with the U.S. Army Reserve. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, in Oconee Hill Cemetery with full fire department honors. Fire Department chaplin Clarence Pope officiated. Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Linda Mairholtz Wilson, Danielsville; daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Keith Bennett, Atlanta; brother, Billy Wilson, Athens; and grandchildren, India and Nolan Bennett, Atlanta.
