Mrs. Garrett was an assistant teacher at the First Presbyterian Church Preschool, an assistant manager of the Pink Posey and a member of St. James United Methodist Church. Donald Ray Watson, 54, of Comer, died Thursday, August 8, 2002. A native of Clarke County, Sgt. Watson was a son of the late James Odell and Florence Jamison Hall Watson. He was employed with Mitsubishi until 1993 and attended Word of Life Congregational Holiness Church. Sgt. Watson was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Soldier’s Medal and the Commendation Medal. Sgt. Watson was a charter member of L.Z. Friendly and was responsible for the donation of land for the organization. He was preceded in death by a son, Chip Watson.
