A native and life-long resident of Madison County, he was a son of the late Raymond and Mary Adams Chandler. He was a farmer and a member of Union Baptist Church where he was a deacon. Mr. Chandler was a veteran of the United States Army. Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 16, at Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Walter Singletary officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Jack Fendley, Joe Gunnells, George Chandler, James Adams, G. Donald Smith and Walter Jackson. Deacons of Union Baptist Church served as honorary pallbearers. Survivors include his wife, Sue Chandler; sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Lydia Chandler and Stacy and Andrea Chandler, all of Danielsville; brothers, Troy Chandler and Jim Chandler, both of Danielsville; five grandchildren -- Colton Chandler, Lance Chandler, Camille Chandler, Colby Chandler and Hunter Chandler. Collins James E. “Rat” Collins, 82, of Commerce, died Friday, April 12, 2002, at BJC Nursing Home, Commerce. Born in Hall County on January 20, 1920, Mr. Collins was a son of the late George H. and Clementine Boggs Collins. He was the founder and the owner of Collins Cleaners for 42 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Commerce. Mr. Collins was also a mail carrier and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in Italy. He was a former Commerce City Councilman and served on the Commerce City Board of Education. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 14, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Don Paulson officiating. Burial was in Grey Hill Cemetery, Com-merce. Mr. Collins is survived by his wife, Louise Kidd Collins, Commerce; one son, Ricky Collins, McDonough; two daughters, Rhee Brown, Watkinsville, and Rosalyn Morris, Birmingham, Ala.; one brother, Charles E. Brooks, of Commerce, died Friday, April 12, 2002, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce, following an extended illness. During her lifetime, Mrs. Brooks had been a floral designer and a homemaker, and she taught floral design through continuing education at Gainesville College. “She enjoyed writing poetry, drawing and painting,” said family members. A native of DeKalb County, Mrs. Brooks was the daughter of the late Will and Sarah Daniels Moore. She was a member of St. Catherine’s Laboure Catholic Mission, Commerce. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 14, in Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce, with the Rev. Kent Cranford officiating. Mrs. Brooks is survived by her husband of 54 years, Judge James L. Brooks, Commerce; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and David Conley, Colbert; and two grandchildren, Hillary and James David (J.D.), both of Colbert. Black Mrs. Bonnie Ruth McCay Black, 80, of Fairburn, died Wednesday, March 13, 2002. A native of Madison County, Mrs. Black was the daughter of the late Edward Lee McCay and Nettie Burroughs McCay. She worked on the staff of the North Georgia Methodist Conference and was a homemaker. Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 16, at Fairburn United Methodist Church with the Revs. Keith Davenport and Kelly Barge officiating. Donahoo, 58, of Athens, died Sunday, April 14, 2002. A native of Lincoln, Ala., he was the son of Lucille Donahoo, Commerce, and the late Mack E. Donahoo. Mr. Donahoo was a U.S. Army veteran, an ordained deacon and a Mason. A 29-year resident of Athens, he was retired from the University of Georgia. He was a member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church and a volunteer with WMSL Radio. Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 16, at 1 p.m. at Prince Avenue Baptist Church with Revs. Bill Ricketts and John Verschuren officiating. Burial was in Jackson Memorial Gardens. Moore India Loggins Browner Moore, 79, died Sunday, April 14, 2002. A native of Hall County, she was the daughter of the late Sanford and Emma Loggins. She was a homemaker and a member of Antioch Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by one sister, Irene Anderson, and four brothers, Tom, Buck, Clyde and Rob Loggins. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, at Brown Funeral Home with the Revs. Ardis Anglin and William Anglin officiating. Burial was in Bluestone Baptist Church Cemetery. Whatley Sr. Robert Edward Whatley Sr., 60, Maysville, died Saturday, April 13, 2002, at his residence following an extended illness. Born December 20, 1941, in Elbert County, he was a son of the late Lena Hix and Albert Whatley. Mr. Whatley was a safety and training coordinator for Jackson EMC. Family members said, “Bob was and is a child of God.” He was a member of Galilee Christian Church, Jefferson. The funeral was at 4 p.m. Monday, April 15, 2002, at the Galilee Christian Church family life center, with minister Tom Plank and Harold Huff officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Benny Bagwell, Bill Burns, Tim Burns, Jim Smith, Phil Strickland and Jeff Vogt. Honorary pallbearers were Jackson EMC employees and Bob Whatley Sunday School Class members.
