A native of Clarke County, Mrs. Bales was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Flora Carter Bowles. She was a homemaker and a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, December 15, at Friendship Baptist Church with Dr. Joe Davis and the Rev. Dayton Logan officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Barton, 76, of Royston, died Sunday, December 15, 2002, at Hart County Hospital, Hartwell. Born in Elbert County on August 8, 1926, Mr. Barton was a son of the late Ernest and Cornelia Carruth Barton. He was retired from the granite industry as a stonecutter and was a member of Mill Shoal Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. Mr. Barton was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean Conflict. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 18, at Mill Shoal Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy Smith officiating. A native and lifelong resident of Madison County, Mr. Morris was a son of the late Charles Hamilton and Clyde Griffeth Morris. He retired from Dairy Pak and was a member of Colbert United Methodist Church. Mr. Morris was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army, and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Allison Morris, Hobson Morris and William D. Morris. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 17, at Colbert United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Haralson officiating. Burial was in Colbert Cemetery. Mrs. Boleman was born in Franklin County on May 10, 1923, a daughter of the late Richard and Allie Glover Hill. She was a homemaker and a member of Franklin Springs Baptist Church. Mrs. Boleman was preceded in death by her husband, Jarrell Franklin Boleman, four grandchildren, Keith Duncan, Jerry Boleman, Greg Boleman and Baby Girl Boleman, and three brothers, Clifford, Floyd and Edward Hill. McDonald Sr. Fred Melvin McDonald Sr., 83, of Danielsville, died Monday, December 16, 2002. Born July 12, 1919, Mr. McDonald was a son of the late George Lewis and Minnie Elizabeth Ryder McDonald. He was retired as vice-president of over 14 mills in the Klopman Division of Burlington Mills and was the owner and operator of McDonald’s Carpets in Danielsville, Commerce and Athens. Mr. McDonald was preceded in death by two sons, Bobby McDonald and Grady Lee McDonald. “He fought a good fight and kept the faith,” said family members. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 19, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, East, Athens, with Coleman Whitehead officiating. A native of Madison County, Mr. Bullock was a son of the late Bea Lambert and Lozie Reid Bullock. Mr. Bullock was a U.S. Marine veteran of World War II, serving in Iwo Jima, receiving the Purple Heart. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a rural mail carrier and was a member of Comer Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. She was born September 3, 1926, in Jackson County. Mrs. Carr was a homemaker and of the Baptist denomination. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Carr.
