Mrs. Smith was born in Franklin County on June 26, 1918. She was a daughter of the late Doffis and Dolly Crider Fowler. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and attended New Hope Worship Center. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Phillips, three brothers, Eddy Lee Fowler, Melvin Fowler and J.D. Fowler, and three sisters, Annie Belle Phillips, Montine Fowler and Alene Eison. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with the Revs. Dennis Kesler and Williard Crider officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Royston. Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, Troy Lee Smith, Royston; one son, Charles Smith, Royston; one sister, Doris Phillips, Royston; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Williams Lowell Lee Williams, 53, of Nicholson, died Friday, April 26, 2002, at his residence. Born June 3, 1948, in Fulton County, Mr. Williams was a son of Lois Virginia Tatum Chesser, Cleveland, and the late Lee Williams. He was an automobile sales manager and was a member of Berea Baptist Church. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 28, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Revs. Terry James, Elton Beasley and Paul Bramlett officiating. Burial was in Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce. In addition to his mother, Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Kesler Williams, Nicholson; five sons, Chris Veuleman and Robie Williams, both of Ruidoso, N.M., and Thomas Veuleman, Bradlie Williams and Zacharie Williams, all of Nicholson; one daughter, Millicent Pembleton, St. Regis, Mont.; three brothers, Claude Chesser, Cleveland, Paul Chesser, Jefferson, and Dan Williams, Titus, Ala.; one sister, Julia Higginbotham, Cleveland; and three grandsons. Wiley Mrs. Vernie-leen “Vernie” Pittman Wiley, 68, of Com-merce, died Wednesday, April 17, 2002, at Athens Regional Medical Center of a sudden illness. Mrs. Wiley was the wife of the late George Bruce Wiley. Graveside services were held Saturday, April 20, in Howington Cemetery, Nicholson, with the Revs. John Mullinax and Troy Herbert officiating. Survivors include three sons, James Wiley, Commerce, Billy Wiley, Winder, and Wayne Wiley, Danielsville; five daughters, Elaine Zent, Decatur, Ala., Barbara Cleary, Jean Taylor and Juanita Wiley, all of Commerce, and Linda Jarrad, Jefferson; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Garrett Douglas Irvin Garrett, 59, of Athens, died Monday, April 29, 2002. A native of West Virginia, Mr. Garrett was the son of Harry I. and Evelyn Reid Garrett, Hinton, W.Va. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was a retired sales associate with Belk. Mr. Garrett was a member of St. James United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 2, in the chapel of Bernstein Funeral Home, Athens, with the Rev. John Brewster, of Tennessee, officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Garrett is survived by his wife, Ann Brewster Garrett; daughters and sons-in-law, Dawn Elizabeth and Mark Newton, Atlanta, and Haley Garrett and Russell Skinner, Colbert; grandchildren, Sam Skinner, Ariana Sojo, Alex Sojo, Carl Newton and Clark Newton; and mother-in- law, Elizabeth Brewster, Athens. Born in Forsyth County on November 24, 1923, Mrs. Martin was a daughter of the late Hubert and Addie Moore Westbrook. She was a homemaker and was a member of Royston Baptist Church, where she was an active member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class. Mrs. Martin was also a member of the Georgia Power Ambassadors and the Fifty-Plus Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, James F. Martin. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 28, at Royston Baptist Church with the Rev. Byron Greene and Dr. Danny Barton officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Royston. Threlkeld, 92, of Carlton, died Tuesday, April 30, 2002. Mr. Threlkeld was born May 8, 1909, to the late William Samuel and Sarah Isabel (Sally) Hopkins Threlkeld. He was a member of New Hope Presbyterian Church, Comer, where he served as an active elder for 50 years. Mr. Threlkeld was preceded in death by an infant son, Huell, a son-in- law, Lee (Red) Fields Jr., an infant great-grandson, sisters, Carol T. Betts, Ione T. Davis, Sybil T. Thompson, Mattie Lou (Tiny) T. Winn, Allie T. Anderson and Ida Mae T. Lance, and brothers, Dewey, Elroy, Woodfin, John Bill, Harold and Jim Joe Threlkeld. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 2, at New Hope Presbyterian Church with the Revs. Bruce Wismer and Janet Williams officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Sellers Leo Carrillo Sellers, 65, of Center, died Thursday, April 25, 2002, at his home following a lengthy illness. Mr. Sellers was born April 1, 1937, in Jacksonville, Fla., a son of the late Logan Sellers and Ruth Ellison Sellers. He married the former Frances Ethel Anderson in May of 1960 and together they raised four children. Mr. Sellers served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and later settled in Center. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Andrew and Buddy Sellers, one sister, Pearl Cardozo, and three infant siblings. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 29, at Temple Baptist Church, Jacksonville, Fla., with the Revs. Arthur Ellison and Robert Galintine officiating. Burial was in Sellers Cemetery, Jacksonville, Fla. Mr. Sellers is survived by his wife of 42 years, Frances Sellers; three daughters, Janet Vessels (Buddy), Barbara Hughes and Billie Maddox (Randy); one son, William Sellers (Jessica); one brother, Larry Sellers, Nicholson; seven sisters, Dorothy Johnson, Lydia Johnson and Deborah Wilkerson, all of Jacksonville, Fla., Marian Farmer, Nicholson, Janell Elits, Wichita, Kan., and Alice Starling and Elaine Bell, both of Bryceville, Fla.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
