Parham Miss Betty Lou Parham, 68, of Comer, died Sunday, October 20, 2002. Miss Parham was born in Elberton, a daughter of the late Lester Gibson Parham Sr. and Ezzie Lou Guest Parham. She was a retired seamstress with Comer Monarch Co. and was a member of Meadow Baptist Church. Miss Parham was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard Parham, Marshall Parham and Lester Parham. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, October 23, in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home, Danielsville, with the Rev. Mike Sarna officiating. Burial was in the Antioch Baptist Church cemetery. Miss Parham’s nephews served as pallbearers. Survivors include two sisters, Ruby Coile and Robbie Perry, both of Comer; two brothers, Billy Parham, Carlton, and Troy Parham, Comer; and several nieces and nephews. Brown Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. -------------------------------------------- The Madison County Journal, October 23, 2002 Henry Pierce Henry Allen Pierce, 78, of Comer, died Friday, October 18, 2002, at his home. Mr. Pierce was born in Madison County on August 20, 1924. He was a son of the late John S. and Pearlie Booth Pierce. Mr. Pierce retired from Boaz Carpet Yarns and worked as a welder with Garrett Paving Company. He also worked at N.E. Georgia Security Company and was band manager for Transco City Band. Mr. Pierce was preceded in death by a grandson, Tracy Sheridan, eight brothers, Hubert, Otha, Leonard, Cody, Hoyt, Dorsey, Lonnie and June Pierce, and four sisters, Coley Sparks, Louise Layfield, Clara Mae Russell and Agnes Winn. He was the last member of his immediate family. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, October 20, at Cedar Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Darvin Cash and Eugene Pritchett and Layman Otis Graham officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Allen Russum, Tommy Dalton, Brian Adams, Brandon Russell, Steven Moss, Tommy Coile, Tony Russell, Ricky Martin and Wendell Pierce served as pallbearers. Mrs. House was born September 20, 1941, a daughter of the late Freddie and Mattie Pearl Ward Collins. She was a homemaker and a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. Mrs. House was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Marie Ann Abercrombie House, and a step-grandson, Brian Teasley. Mrs. Trotter was born in Royston, a daughter of the late Oscar T. Royston and Leonia Hall Royston. She was a homemaker and a member of Central Baptist Church. Mrs. Trotter had lived in Hall County for 55 years, and was the owner and operator of Trotter Grocery Store on Pine Street for several years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #7, the Hospital Auxiliary and the local Garden Club. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 21, in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home, Gainesville, with the Rev. Drewery Loggins officiating. Mrs. Haynes was preceded in death by a brother, Richard L. Armstrong. She was the widow of Jack Ray Smith. Mrs. Smith lived most of her life in Athens and was retired from Westclox/General Times Corp. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church. Archer Bobby Lee Archer, 77, of Jefferson, died Wednesday, October 16, 2002, at Athens Regional Medical Center. Mr. Archer was born in Madison County on April 21, 1925. He was a son of the late David Anderson and Carrie Savannah Pace Archer. Mr. Archer was the owner of Archers Garage and Wrecker Service and was a member of Center Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Joe Archer, and a daughter, June Archer. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 19, at Red Stone Methodist Church with the Revs. Bill Carpenter and Buford Lockman officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Fischer, 68, of Commerce, died Tuesday, October 22, 2002, at Grady Memorial Hospital. Mr. Fischer was a native of Allegheny County, Pa. He was the son of the late Fredrick A. Fischer and Susanna Davies Fischer and the step- son of the late John S. Shafer. Mr. Fischer was a retired vice president in charge of operations at Baker & Taylor Co., Commerce, and was a member of the Commerce First United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Commerce Kiwanis Club and the Athens Country Club, and was named “Kiwanian of the Year” this year by the Commerce Kiwanis Club. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 24, at Commerce First United Methodist Church with Dr. Tom Lewis and the Rev. Brian Stowe officiating. Burial will be in Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce.
