Comer Mrs. Hazel M. Comer, 91, of Hull, died Saturday, June 22, 2002. Born in Madison County, Mrs. Comer was a daughter of the late Seaborn and Marvel Stovall Phillips. She was a homemaker and attended Victory Baptist Church. Mrs. Comer was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Comer, and a daughter, Mary Jo Comer. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 24, at Victory Baptist Church with the Rev. Elmer Butler officiating. Burial was in the Calvary Baptist Church cemetery. Bray Mrs. Jerrie Francie Booth Bray, 58, of Comer, died Tuesday, June 18, 2002. A native of Madison County, Mrs. Bray was the daughter of the late Ernest Gibson and Clare Dale Booth. She was a retired seamstress and was of the Holiness denomination. Mrs. Bray was preceded in death by a daughter, Regina Lee Bray. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 21, at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, Madison Chapel, Danielsville, with the Rev. Randall Starrett and Herman Hubbard officiating. Mrs. Dove was born in Madison County on August 26, 1935, a daughter of the late Roy G. Drake and Revonder Garrett Drake. She was a seamstress at Oxford Manufacturing and was a member of David’s Home Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she served as a Deaconess. Mrs. Dove was preceded in death by a grandson, Simon Carter. Mr. Fowler was born in Franklin County on August 24, 1934. He was a son of the late James Mack Fowler and Mayola Haley Fowler. Mr. Fowler was retired from Beaulieu of America, formerly Boaz, with 47 years of service. He was a member of the Harrison McCreary V.F.W. Post #4828. Mr. Fowler was preceded in death by three brothers, Stewart Fowler, L.C. “Pete” Fowler and Marvin Fowler, and a sister, Bertha Price. Fowler Mrs. Gertie Mae Phillips Fowler, 69, of Danielsville, died Sunday, June 23, 2002, at her home. Mrs. Fowler was born in Franklin County on September 25, 1932, and lived in Madison County all of her life. She was a daughter of the late Wiley F. Phillips and Lillie Mae Phillips Phillips. Mrs. Fowler was a member of New Hope Worship Center. She worked in the textile industry for 36 years and retired from American Vans as a cafeteria manager in 1991. Mrs. Fowler was preceded in death by a brother, Jasper Phillips, a sister, Jessie Mae Phillips, and a sister-in-law, Lucille Fern Maxey Phillips. He worked for Alexander’s Wood Products for 42 years and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. She was a daughter of the late Tom Claude and Neta Elizabeth Hayes Bennett. Mrs. Scogins was retired from Gold Kist and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Brock, 83, of Washington, a native of Jackson County, died Monday, June 24, 2002. Mrs. Brock was the daughter of the late Ernest and La Deamie Segars Damron. She was a member of Winterville First Baptist Church. Mrs. Brock was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Roscoe Brock. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 27, in the Winterville First Baptist Church chapel with Dr. Stan Annandale officiating, assisted by the Rev. Howard Conine. Burial will be in the Corinth Baptist Church cemetery. Tommy Melton, Kyle Melton, Phillip Starns, Brian Mayer, Nathan Mayer and Tim Brock will serve as pallbearers. The body will lie in state in the chapel one hour prior to the service.
