Hanley Mrs. Edith Evelyn Rice Hanley, 89, of Danielsville, died Saturday, November 23, 2002. Born in Franklin County, Mrs. Hanley was a daughter of the late Judge Rice and Addie Ruth Keasler Rice. She was preceded in death by her husband, Spurgeon Hanley, and a son, Ray Hanley. Mrs. Hanley was a homemaker and a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 26, in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home, Danielsville, with the Rev. Wendall Hanley officiating. Burial was in the Wesley Chapel Methodist Church cemetery. Survivors include one daughter, Janice Dale, Danielsville; two sons, Homer Wallace Hanley, Winterville, and Larry R. Hanley, Danielsville; three sisters, Mary Gordon, Mt. Airy, Avis Jeffery, Stockbridge, and Carol Dale, Homer; one brother, Carmon Rice, Loganville; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and two step-grandchildren. Kennedy John Dan “J.D.” Kennedy, 69, of Commerce, died Friday, November 22, 2002, at his home. Mr. Kennedy was born in Franklin County on July 23, 1933, a son of Mrs. Emily Cole Kennedy, Royston, and the late Clyde Kennedy. He was a retired iron worker and of the Baptist denomination. Mr. Kennedy was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a member of the United States Field Trailer’s Association and the National Bird Dog Association. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 25, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with the Rev. Tim Peek officiating. Burial was in Danielsville Memorial Gardens. Terry Buesse, Clark Buesse, Taylor James, Ricky Shelton, Stacey Hall, Mark Vaughn, Paul Vaughn, Galen Baldwin, Tony Smith, Don Baldwin and Darrin Dalrymple served as pallbearers. In addition to his mother, Mr. Kennedy is survived by his wife, Sara James Kennedy, Commerce; son and daughter-in-law, John Dan II and Angela Kennedy, Commerce; daughter and son-in-law, Crystal and Waldo Sisk, Commerce; grandson, Justin Kennedy; granddaughters, Saranne Sisk, Summer Sisk and Jamie Kennedy; step-mother, Peggy Rousey, Royston; half-brothers, Rex Kennedy and Mike Kennedy, both of Comer, and Doug Kennedy; and half-sister, Pam Kennedy, Royston. Mr. Jordan was born in Madison County on February 5, 1928. He was a son of the late Oscar Clarence Jordan Sr. and the late Susie Lee Power Jordan. Mr. Jordan was a construction worker and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, November 25, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with the Rev. Ray Jenkins officiating. Burial was in the Friendship Baptist Church cemetery. Mr. Jordan’s nephews served as pallbearers. Survivors include two brothers, J.C. A native of Comer, Mrs. Gantt was a daughter of the late John Dorsey Carithers and Birdie Carithers Carithers. She was retired from ACT Inc. and was a member of Holly Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Gantt was preceded in death by her husband, Henry “Pete” Gantt. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 27, at Holly Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Scotty Randolph officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Survivors include six daughters, Alberta Gantt, Yvonne Berry and Kathryn Willingham, all of Comer, Betty J. Pittman, Athens, Frankie Echols, Covington, and Beverly Harris, Atlanta; four sons, Robert Calvin Gantt, Athens, Bennie L. Bonds, 86, of Commerce, died Friday, November 22, 2002, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce, following a brief illness. Mrs. Bonds was a daughter of the late Johnny G. and Hester E. Whitsel Duncan, and was the widow of Carlton Bonds. She was retired from Harmony Grove Mill. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 23, in the Liberty Methodist Church cemetery with the Revs. Wendell Hanley and Douglas Duncan officiating. Survivors include four sons, Jerry Bonds, Ila, Johnny Bonds, Danielsville, and Early Bonds and C.W. Bonds, both of Commerce; six daughters, Helen Mabry, Blanche Maddox, Shirley Snead and Beverly Bowles, all of Commerce, Carolyn O’Kelley, Maysville, and Brenda Johnson, Hartwell; one brother, W.C. He was a hardware salesman and of the Baptist denomination. Hansford Johnny Wesley Hansford, 60, of Comer, died Monday, November 25, 2002. A native of Clarke County, Mr. Hansford was a son of the late William Hansford and Annie Pearl West Chapman. He worked as a security guard for Trus Joist, Colbert, and was of the Baptist denomination. Mr. Hansford was preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Michelle Hansford, and a son, Adam Wesley Hansford. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 27, in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home, Danielsville, with the Rev. Michael Giddens officiating. Burial was in the Ross Chapel Baptist Church cemetery, Eastville. Mark Hansford, Michael Hansford, Tim Hansford, Danny Croy, Billy Burroughs and Jimmy Herring served as pallbearers. Mr. Hansford is survived by his wife, Stella Casey Hansford; two daughters, Jonnie Lynn Croy, Carlton, and Toni Meranda Burroughs, Clarkesville; two sisters, Betty Lawson and Sybil Brooks, both of Colbert; one brother, Charles Hansford, Danielsville; and four grandchildren. Mrs. Clark was a member of Comer Baptist Church. Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, November 24, in Evergreen Memorial Park with the Rev. Dennis Wester officiating.
