Williams Mrs. Dorothy Mashburn Williams, 75, of Comer, died Tuesday, January 22, 2002. A native of Barberton, Ohio, Mrs. Williams was a daughter of the late Edgar and Edna Parham Mashburn. She was the wife of the late John Lewis Williams. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 25, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, East, with the Rev. Buford Lockman officiating. Burial was in the Collier Baptist Church cemetery. Bobby Wells, Michael Wells, Randall Wells, Doyle Green, Jeff Smith and Wayne Mashburn served as pallbearers. Survivors include five daughters, Patsy Chandler, Arnoldsville, Jean Wells, Winterville, and Linda Weaver, Kathryn Rogers and Barbara Green, all of Colbert; one son, Ronnie Williams, Hull; three brothers, Ray Mashburn, Conyers, and Donald Mashburn and Earl Mashburn, both of Athens; nine grandchildren, seven great- grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Benton, 75, of Commerce, died Saturday, January 26, 2002, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce. A native of Madison County, Mr. Benton was born May 14, 1926. He was a son of the late Edgar E. and Sarah Wood Benton. Mr. Benton was a retired carpenter and was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lottie Bell Wood Benton. Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, January 28, in the Friendship Baptist Church cemetery with the Rev. Jimmy Owensby, Matt Mize and Mike Mize officiating. Survivors include one daughter, Elaine Bennett, Commerce; one brother, Claude E. Benton, Easley, S.C.; three sisters, Sara Brister and Pauline Collins, both of Commerce, and Betty Ann Minish, Royston; and one grandchild. Patton Jr. Norman Hawkins Patton Jr., 70, of Colbert, died Friday, January 25, 2002. A native of Granite City, Ill., Mr. Patton was a son of the late Norman Patton Sr. and Angelica Peer Patton. He was the retired owner of C&P Auto and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Mr. Patton was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Florence. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, January 27, in Evergreen Memorial Park. Survivors include four sons, Preston Patton, Meridian, Miss., Ronnie Patton, Colbert, Keith Patton, Greer, S.C., and Ricky Patton, Athens; two daughters, Patricia Patton, Colbert, and April Patton, Athens; two brothers, Tommy Patton, Mainden, La., and Jimmy Patton, Granite City, Ill.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Humphrey Mrs. Roberta Amanda Baker Humphrey, 81, of Commerce, died Wednesday, January 23, 2002, at her residence. A native of Madison County, Mrs. Humphrey was born July 6, 1920. She was a daughter of the late James Franklin and Lillian Amanda Dye Baker. Mrs. Humphrey was a retired secretary and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Commerce. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Lloyd Goethals Humphrey. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 26, at the First Baptist Church of Commerce with Dr. Kent Cranford officiating. Burial was in Danielsville Memorial Gardens. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Lloyd and Kathy Humphrey, Flowery Branch; daughter, Vivian Humphrey, Athens; and five grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Commerce. Smith Danny Ray Smith, 49, of Comer, died Tuesday, January 22, 2002. Born in North Carolina, Mr. Smith was a son of Jennie Miller Smith and the late Charles Smith. Mr. Smith was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 25, at Davidıs Home Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Doug Conwell officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Verman Wallace, Michael Wallace, Ranny Smith, Russell Smith, Larry Martin and Darrell Wallace served as pallbearers. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include one sister, Theresa Wallace, Comer; one step-sister, Lori Januchowski, Comer; and two brothers, Ranny Jay Smith, Comer, and Russell Lee Smith, Ellijay. Anderson Mrs. Kelly Denise Wood Anderson, 30, of Crawford, died Thursday, January 17, 2002, at the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta, after an extended bout with cancer (leukemia and lymphoma). A native of Oconee County, Mrs. Anderson attended school in Oconee County where she served as the school mascot during part of her high school years. She was a born-again Christian and was a member of Crawford Pentecostal Church. Mrs. Anderson was the daughter of Ola Stevens Wood, formerly of Banks County, Watkinsville, and Lawrence Wood Sr., Watkinsville. She was a loving Christian wife, mother, homemaker and floral designer, said family members. She was extremely well loved and w ill be sorely missed. Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Stig Stevens. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, January 20, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, Athens. Burial was in Crawford Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, Tracy Anderson Sr., a disabled former Watkinsville Police Officer; two daughters, Brittany Anderson, 8, and Brooke Anderson, 6; one son, Tracy Anderson Jr., 4; and one brother, Judson Wood (U.S. Air Force, Warner Robins), Fort Valley. In addition to her other relatives, local relatives include one half-sister, Karen Noell, Braselton; two nieces, Michelle Noell, Braselton, and Chelsea Wood, Watkinsville; one nephew, Christopher Noell, Braselton; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Izora Stevens, Commerce (Banks County); two uncles, John and Linda Stevens, Commerce, and Lester and Lynn Stevens, Danielsville; five aunts, Bessie and Payton Minish, Commerce, Betty and Bob Harris, Jefferson, Nora and Curtis Waters, Toccoa, Mary and Dave Allen, Danielsville, and Mildred and Ricky Bell, Watkinsville; and a number of cousins. Cash Jackie Dean Cash, 52, of Winder, died Thursday, January 24, 2002, at St. Maryıs Hospital, Athens. A native and lifelong resident of Barrow County, Mr. Cash was a son of Amy Brown Cash and the late Melvin Cash. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator. Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 26, in the chapel of Carter Funeral Home, Winder, with the Rev. Leon Pass officiating. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Jeremy and Deanna Cash, Statham; his mother, Amy J. Cash, Statham; brothers, Bill Cash, Statham, Randall Cash, Winder, Damon Cash, Nicholson, and Dana Cash, Danielsville; sisters, Nan Slingluff, Comer, and Jan Cash, Winder; grandson, Justin Hollifield, Statham; granddaughter, Kerrigan Cash, Statham; and several nieces and nephews.
