Nash Thurmond J. Nash, 67, of Danielsville, died Sunday, July 28, 2002. Mr. Nash was born in Madison County on January 18, 1935, a son of Mrs. Grace Roling Nash, Danielsville, and the late Charlie G. Nash. He worked for Food Machinery Sales and was of the Holiness denomination. Mr. Nash was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Coker Nash, a son, Kevin Nash, and three brothers, Harold, Wayne and Neal Nash. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with the Rev. Kendall Callaway officiating. Burial was in Danielsville Memorial Gardens. Pruitt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. ----------------------------------------- The Madison County Journal, July 31, 2002 Michael D. ‘Mickey’ Stephenson Michael D. “Mickey” Stephenson, 65, of Hull, died Thursday, July 25, 2002. A native of Okemah, Okla., Mr. Stephenson was a son of the late A.J. Stephenson and Aleene Foglesong Stephenson, and a step-son of Winifred White Stephenson, Cushing, Okla. A graduate of Oklahoma State University, Mr. Stephenson was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1960 until 1966. He retired from Amoco Oil Company after 28 years, and had owned and operated Furniture Medic, of Athens, since 1996. Mr. Stephenson was a member of Gordon’s Chapel United Methodist Church and a member of the Sanford Mens Club. “He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend,” said family members. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 27, at Gordon’s Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Passmore officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Jordan was born in Franklin County on May 27, 1915, a daughter of the late Albert Whitsel and the late Maggie Hanley Whitsel. She was a seamstress, a member of Peniel Pentecostal Holiness Church and was active in the African Violet Society. Mrs. Jordan was preceded in death by her husband, Stuard Jordan. Erdman Jr., 79, of Ferguson, Mo., and formerly of Athens, died Tuesday, July 23, 2002. Mr. Erdman was born in Baltimore, Md., a son of the late Thomas F. Sr. and Mary A. Norton Erdman. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army, and was a retired Southern Baptist minister. Mr. Erdman was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church, Nicholson. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, July 29, at New Harmony Baptist Church with the Revs. Howard Garrison and Kenneth Dillard officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. He was a son of the late James Washington Bryant and the late Liza Jane Looney Bryant. Mr. Bryant was a retired farmer and was of the Baptist denomination. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Bryant was preceded in death by three children, J.M. and A.M. Bryant and Annie Sue Bryant, one brother, Thomas Bryant, and three sisters, Ella Ware, Addie Whited and Susie Hill. Miss Sexton was born in Madison County on July 27, 1927, a daughter of the late Earl Lee and Idell McEwen Sexton. She was a member of Evangelical Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, Miss Sexton was preceded in death by two brothers, Norman Sexton and Fred Sexton. Born in Habersham County on June 23, 1926, Mr. Gribble was the son of the late James B. and Winnie Lee Hill Gribble. He was a retired manager with Ridge Lumber Company, Lakeland, Fla., and was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in World War II. Mr. Gribble attended the Cornelia Church of God and was a member of the North Side Assembly of God in Lakeland, Fla., where he served as deacon for many years. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lurline Holbrook. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 29, at Harvest Ministries Church, Jacksonville, Fla., with the Rev. Eddie Tanner officiating. Services were also held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, at Cornelia Church of God with the Revs. Eddie Tanner, Wilmer Ivester and Len Pirkle officiating.
