Mrs. LaVallee was born in Madison County on December 26, 1921, a daughter of the late Joel Marvin and Fairah Winn Tyner. She was retired and was a member of Jones Chapel United Methodist Church. Mrs. LaVallee was preceded in death by her husband, Leon LaVallee, a son, Donald Joe McNeil, a sister, Mary Jo Sartain, and a brother, John C. Tyner. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Monday, April 1, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with the Revs. G.C. McCurry, Dennis Kesler and Jonathan Randall officiating. Burial was in the Jones Chapel United Methodist Church cemetery. Sartain Mrs. Victoria Waddell Sartain, 57, of Hull, died Wednesday, March 27, 2002. A native of Madison County, Mrs. Sartain was a daughter of the late Van and Volina Sue Kelley Waddell. After graduating from high school, Mrs. Sartain served in the U.S. Navy from 1962 to 1963. She was a self-employed accountant and was a member of Crossroads Church. Mrs. Sartain was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Boyd Waddell. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 30, at Crossroads Church with the Revs. D.H. Kesler Jr., Morris Sapp and G.C. McCurry officiating. Burial was in the New Hope Congregational Holiness Church cemetery. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was employed in the paving business. Mr. Fowler was a member of Community Baptist Church. Fortson Jr. Samuel Madison “S.M.” Fortson Jr., 84, of Royston, died Wednesday, March 27, 2002, at Cobb Memorial Hospital, Royston. Born in Madison County on December 7, 1917, Mr. Fortson was a son of the late Samuel Madison Fortson Sr. and the late Clara Bond Fortson. He was a farmer and was of the Methodist faith. Mr. Fortson was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. Mr. Moody was born October 10, 1941, in Haywood County, N.C. He was a musician and played with several Nashville music stars. Mr. Moody played in several areas of the Southeast, including Maggie Valley, Pigeon Forge and the Tallulah Falls River Resort. He was of the Baptist denomination and was a member of the Musicians Union. Mr. Moody was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Zack Moody Sr. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, with the Revs. Scott Ledbetter and John Dubois officiating. Burial was in Baldwin Cemetery with David Terrell officiating. Ramsey William Delano “Bill” Ramsey, 65, of Abbeville, S.C., died Thursday, March 28, 2002. Born in Asheville, N.C., Mr. Ramsey was a son of the late William R. and Frances L. Sawyer Ramsey. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving from December 16, 1955 to October 13, 1958. Mr. Ramsey was retired from Westinghouse Electric and was of the Baptist denomination. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 30, in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home, Danielsville, with Bill Ramsey officiating. Burial was in Colbert Cemetery. A native of Jackson County, Mr. Boswell was born April 19, 1928, a son of the late Charlie T. and Zora Bryan Boswell. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of the Homer American Legion Post #215. Mr. Boswell built fences and was also a member of Unity Christian Church and the Banks County Cattleman’s Association.
