Phillips Mrs. Lidy Orene Garrett Phillips, 79, of Danielsville, died Saturday, November 30, 2002, at the Comer Health Care Center. Mrs. Phillips was born in Madison County on November 20, 1923. She was a daughter of the late William Thomas and Lena Pearl Parsons Garrett. Mrs. Phillips was a homemaker and a member of Bethel M. Baptist Church, Madison County. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Marcus Phillips, two brothers, Ebb Garrett and Marshall Garrett, and three sisters, Oddie Mae King, Bertie Lee Drake and Revonda Drake. Mrs. Phillips was the last member of her immediate family. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 2, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with the Revs. Robert Garrett and Jerome Howell officiating. Burial was in Danielsville Memorial Gardens. Jason Summers, Brett Summers, Bewis Summers, Glenn Howell, Joey Baskins, Seth Fields and Stanley James served as pallbearers. Mrs. Phillips is survived by her husband, Doyle Thomas Phillips, Danielsville; one son, Donald T. Phillips, Danielsville; one daughter, Patricia (Pat) Hill, Danielsville; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Mr. Ashworth was born in Elbert County on December 7, 1927. He was a son of the late Thomas Newton and Nora Parham Ashworth. Mr. Ashworth retired from the textile industry and was of the Baptist denomination. He was preceded in death by eight brothers and one sister. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 27, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with the Revs. Mike Sullivan and Dennis Kesler officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery, Bowman. Melvin Andrews, Billy Leard, James Fleeman, Johnny Ashworth, Steve Leard and Mike Wallace served as pallbearers. Gerrin Mrs. Mary Louise Gerrin, of Danielsville, died Sunday, December 1, 2002. A native of Cartersville, Mrs. Gerrin was a daughter of the late William C. and Mable Owens Chambers. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist denomination. Mrs. Gerrin was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Gerrin, a daughter, Shirley Chambers, a sister, Mable Parrish, and brothers, Jimmy, Leroy and Charles Chambers. Memorial services were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, December 4, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, Danielsville. She was a sixth grade school teacher at Madison County Middle School, where she had been employed for 13 years. Mrs. Bishop was a member of Bethel Holiness Church, Ila. A native of Oglethorpe County, Mr. Smith was a son of the late John and Callie McLeroy Smith. He was a mechanic for over 58 years and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 27, at Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Dayton Logan and Dr. Joe Davis officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Grizzle was born April 13, 1944, in Franklin County, a son of the late Verlin Wilson and Inez Wood Grizzle. He was a construction and textile worker and was a member of Gordon Church. Mr. Grizzle was preceded in death by a brother, Delmer Grizzle. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 5, at Gordon Church with the Rev. Larry Ivey officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include a daughter, Amanda K. Grizzle, Lavonia; step- daughter, Elizabeth Winser, Atlanta; step-sons, Edward Winser, Charlotte, N.C., and Larry Ivey, Jefferson; sisters, Louise Fann and Grace Cary, both of Royston, and Willene Hart, Dalton; and brothers, Billy Ray Grizzle, Danielsville, and Stanley Grizzle, Royston.
