Carney Sam Daniel Carney, 83, of Hull, died Monday, June 3, 2002. Born in Floyd County, in Rome, Mr. Carney was a son of the late William W. and Frances Emma Johnson Carney. Mr. Carney retired from Lockheed in 1973. He participated in World War II, the Korean Conflict and in Vietnam. Mr. Carney served in the Armed Forces from 1940 until 1973, when he retired from the Air Force. He was of the Baptist denomination. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home, Danielsville, with the Rev. Tom Suthard officiating. Burial was in Georgia Memorial Gardens, Marietta. Military served as pallbearers. Mr. Carney is survived by his wife, Thelma Bailey Carney; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Adrian McCravey, Powder Springs; son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Susan Carney, Marietta; step-daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Richard Rowe, Colbert; step-daughter, MaryLee White, Lilburn; step-son and daughter-in-law, Warren and Tammy White, Franklin, N.C.; sisters, Ella Dotson and Mary Silvers, both of Rome; brother, Emmitt Carney, Rome; seven grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren. Slaton, 74, of Danielsville, died Friday, May 24, 2002. Born in Madison County, Mr. Slaton was a son of the late William H. and Susie Isabelle Bruce Slaton. He was employed by the City of Winder in the early 80’s. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 30, in Meadow Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Hudman officiating. Survivors include one daughter, Jennifer Simpson, Winder; one sister, Mary Leverett, Smith, Ala.; and two brothers, William H. Slaton Jr., Dalton, and Franklin Slaton, Lizella. Perry Mrs. Sarah Dell Adams Perry, 77, of Hull, died Monday, June 3, 2002, at Family Life Nursing Home. Mrs. Perry was born November 20, 1924, in Madison County. She was a daughter of the late Charlie and Ora Berrong Adams. Mrs. Perry was a homemaker and was a member of Gordon Chapel United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Perry. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, at Gordon Chapel United Methodist Church with the Revs. Robert Passmore and Kenneth Dillard officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Hilley was born in Madison County on January 16, 1932, a son of the late Richard Thomas and Bernice Rebecca Brown Hilley. He was a poultry farmer and attended New Hope Baptist Church. Mr. Hilley was preceded in death by a sister, Malise Hilley, and three brothers, Foster, Rudolph and Wilburn Hilley. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 6, at New Hope Baptist Church with the Revs. Jerome Hill and Calvin Coile officiating. Burial will be in the Bethel M. Baptist Church cemetery. Andrews Mrs. Ella Elizabeth Myers Andrews, 79, of Blacks Creek Church Road, died Sunday, June 2, 2002, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Athens, of an extended illness. Mrs. Andrews was the daughter of the late J.D. and Inez Minish Tate. She was retired from Blue Bell Manufacturing Co. Mrs. Andrews was preceded in death by her first husband, J.B. Myers, and her second husband, Roscoe Andrews, and a daughter, Peggy Sue Myers Bryant. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, at Mt. Coile, 42, of Hull, died Wednesday, May 29, 2002. A native of Clarke County, Mr. Coile was a longtime resident of Madison County. He was a son of the late Theo O’Neal Coile and Patricia Ann Holcomb Allen and the step-son of Henry Allen. Mr. Coile was a member of Hull Baptist Church. She had resided in Barrow County for most of her life and was a member of Union Baptist Church. Mrs. Cronic was also a nurse’s assistant at Russell Nursing Home. Mr. Waller was born April 19, 1925, in Wilkes County, a son of the late Thomas and Florence Thaxton Waller. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army, and was retired from Union Oil. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mack Lumpkin. Graveside services were held at noon Monday, June 3, in East Lawn Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. William Evans officiating. Lang Mrs. Eddie McDonald Lang, 88, of Commerce, died Monday, June 3, 2002. Mrs. Lang was a retired first grade teacher with the Commerce City School System and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Commerce. She was also a member of the Ladies Circle 1 and the Commerce-Jackson County Retired Teachers Association. A native of Atkinson County, Mrs. Lang was the daughter of the late Edward C. and Mamie Deen McDonald. She was the wife of the late Woolard R. Lang. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 6, at the First United Methodist Church of Commerce with the Rev. Warren Huddleston officiating. Burial will be in Axson Cemetery. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Charles Exley, Stone Mountain, and Lettie and Buddy Stallings, Yatesville; grandson and wife, Charles and Kiyoko Exley III, New Haven, Conn.; granddaughter and husband, Amanda and David Lower, Atlanta; and a number of nieces and nephews.
