Jones Langston Birch Jones, infant son of William Samuel and Chanice Larae Langston Jones, of Royston, died Thursday, September 4, 2003, at Anderson Area Medical Center, Anderson, S.C. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 6, in the New Hope Worship Center Cemetery with the Revs. Dennis Kesler, Jonathan Peppers and Jonathan Randall officiating. Survivors, in addition to his parents, include grandparents, Wayne and Louise Langston, Royston, and Nancy Jones, Dewy Rose; and great-grandmother, Lettie Mae Hall, Royston. Langston was preceded in death by his grandfather, Donald Jones, and great-grandparents, Burrough Bennett, Ford and Gracie Langston, Lila and Ronnie Gay and Dorothy and Sam Jones. Mrs. Pierce was born December 15, 1924, in Madison County, a daughter of the late Tom and Dezzie Lou Graham Coile. She was a homemaker, a seamstress, a poultry farmer and a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. Pierce was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Allen Pierce, a grandson, Tracy Sheridan, three sisters, Eunice Duncan, Lois Bridges and Edna Moon, and a brother, Ed Coile. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, September 9, at Cedar Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Darvin Cash and Layman Otis Graham officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Ricky Martin, Jody Russell, Tommy Coile, Brandon Russell, Steven Moss, Randy Moss and Roy Russell served as pallbearers. Mrs. Morgan was a daughter of the late Julian Howser and the late Norma Alexander Howser. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred C. Morgan, and two daughters, Shelly and Rita Williams. Hammonds Buford Jack Hammonds, 82, of Harrisburg, N.C., died Monday, September 1, 2003, at The Heritage at Town Center. Mr. Hammonds was born January 21, 1921, in Madison County. He was a son of the late Arthur Johnson Hammonds and Laura Kidd Hammonds. Mr. Hammonds served in the U.S. Army 91st Infantry Division during World War II and retired from American Crankshaft. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by nine brothers and four sisters. A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Hammonds was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 3, in the chapel of Hartsell Funeral Home, Concord, N.C., with the Rev. John Pless officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery with military rites by the DAV Concord Chapter 27. Mack Penninger, Bill Simmons, Benjamin Hammonds, Wayne Penninger, Bill Athey and Tom Athey served as pallbearers. Mrs. Williams was born February 6, 1914, in Jackson County. She was the daughter of the late T.P. and Drucilla Gipson Smallwood. Mrs. Williams was a homemaker and a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Weldon L. Williams Sr. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, September 8, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Henry Webb officiating. Burial was in Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce. Fleeman Aaron Lee Fleeman, of Bowman, died Wednesday, September 3, 2003, at Elbert Memorial Hospital in Elberton. Mr. Fleeman was born April 7, 1931, in Elbert County, a son of the late James Ezra Fleeman and Onie Ray Fleeman Phillips. He was a retired carpenter who also farmed and worked in the upholstery business. Mr. Fleeman was a member of Faith Baptist Church, where he served as deacon and was a former member of the Building and Grounds Committee. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Sandra and Adam Carey, a brother, Jessie Owen Fleeman, and a sister, Louise Loyd Thornton Gaddis. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, September 5, at Faith Baptist Church with the Revs. Johnny Stowe and Paul Vickery officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Fleeman’s grandsons served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were deacons of Faith Baptist Church. Mr. Fleeman is survived by his wife, Sarah Carolyn Kelley Fleeman, Bowman; daughters, Sara Jones, Cordele, Becky Cook, Elberton, and Jane Warren, Cindy Carey Scott and Rhonda Dunn, all of Bowman; brother, J.C. Fleeman, Anderson, S.C.; sister, Eula Mae Hayes, Anderson, S.C.; 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
