Wallace Gerald Roger Wallace, 53, of Danielsville, died Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at his home. Mr. Wallace was born in Fulton County on November 4, 1949. He was raised by his grandparents, the late James Cooper and Ester Wallace. His mother is Mrs. Betty Wallace Fortson, Danielsville. Mr. Wallace was a welder and mechanic. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Friday, March 7, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with the Rev. Glenn Guest officiating. Burial was in the Shiloh Baptist Church cemetery. Pugh Sr. Jimmy Ralph Pugh Sr., 56, of Athens, died Wednesday, March 5, 2003. A native of Morgan County, Mr. Pugh was a son of the late Mable Pugh Kirk. Mrs. Jordan was born in Franklin County on September 9, 1921, a daughter of the late Claude and Susie Parten Phillips. She retired from Johnson & Johnson Company and was a member of Peniel Pentecostal Holiness Church. Mrs. Jordan was preceded in death by her husband, Wiley Edward Jordan Jr., a brother, Tyrus Phillips, and two sisters, Olivia Phillips and Ruth Noles. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 13, at Peniel Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Bert Synan officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Terrie Jordan, Royston; granddaughter, Phyllis Bryan; and great-grandson, Joseph Bryan. Mrs. Nash was born October 7, 1913, in Franklin County, a daughter of the late Stark and Della Roling Rowland. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie G. Nash, four sons, Wayne Nash, Harold Nash, Neil Nash and Thurmond Nash, and two grandsons, Kevin Nash and O’Neil Alewine. Mrs. Nash was a homemaker and of the Holiness denomination. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 6, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with the Rev. Kendall Callaway officiating. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and of the Baptist denomination. Mrs. Thurmond was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Thurmond, a sister, Lottie Thurmond, and a brother, Noah McDonald. Compton Sr., 81, of Athens, died Sunday, March 2, 2003. A lifelong resident of Jackson County, Mr. Compton was born March 4, 1921, in Madison County. He was retired from the Jackson County School System as a bus driver for 19 years and was self-employed in construction. Mr. Compton served in the U.S. Air Force. She was a daughter of the late Young and Willie Lindsey Adams. Mrs. Baxter was retired from Commerce Sportswear and was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh M. Baxter, and a son, Hugh Jerrell Baxter. Strickland Julian Lamar Strickland, 86, of Comer, died Sunday, March 9, 2003. A native of Madison County, Mr. Strickland was a son of the late Howard and Ida Comer Strickland. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles H. Strickland. Mr. Strickland was retired from Southeastern Stages Inc. in Athens, and was a member of Comer United Methodist Church. He was a former member and Past Master of Fergus Lodge #135, Loganville, a Past Master of Shannon Lodge #404, Comer, and a Master Mason for more than 50 years. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Strickland served in the U.S. Army Combat Engineers in the Pacific Theater. He was a devoted husband and father, said family members. Memorial services were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, at Comer United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mike McLemore officiating. Interment was held in a private family ceremony at Comer Cemetery. Mr. Strickland is survived by his wife, Josephine Palmer Strickland; two sons, Kenneth Strickland, Morganton, and Keith Strickland, Woodstock, N.Y.; one daughter, Kathy Thomason, Commerce; one brother, Willis C.
