Mr. Parten was born in Clarke County. He was a self-employed concrete finisher and a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, in Smith Memory Chapel of Smith Funeral Home, Winder, with the Rev. Bud McDonald officiating. Burial was in Mt. Tabor Cemetery. Mr. Parten is survived by his wife, Deana Parten, Comer; three sons, Terry Parten Jr., Winder, and Mathew and Andrew Parten, both of Comer; one daughter, Jessie Parten, Winder; his mother and step-father, Jennette and Bud McDonald, Bogart; his father and step-mother, H.H. Peppers Mrs. Louise Smith Peppers, 74, of Jefferson, died Monday, May 12, 2003, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce. Mrs. Peppers was born September 24, 1928, in Jackson County, a daughter of the late Edwin Smith and the late Thelma Roberts Smith Potts. She had been employed as a nurse’s aide and was of the Baptist denomination. Mrs. Peppers was preceded in death by her husband, Billy S. Peppers, and a brother, Wilton Smith. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Henry Webb officiating. Burial was in Woodbine Cemetery, Jefferson. Smith Mrs. Jennie Miller Smith, 71, of Comer, died Saturday, May 10, 2003, at her home. Mrs. Smith was born in North Wilkesboro, N.C., a daughter of the late Charles and Molly Miller. She had been employed as a waitress and cashier. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by a son, Danny Ray Smith. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, at David’s Home Church with the Rev. McCullar Mrs. Mildred Theresa Rico McCullar, 78, of Royston, died Thursday, May 8, 2003, at Brown Memorial Convalescent Center in Royston. Mrs. McCullar was born in Colorado Springs, Colo., on November 24, 1924. She was a daughter of the late Nicholas and Teresa Masturoni Rico. Mrs. McCullar was a homemaker and an active member of the Royston Church of God. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Kay McCullar, two sisters, Jennie Rico and Elizabeth Hoppock, a brother, Louie Rico, and two infant brothers. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 12, at the Royston Church of God with the Revs. James Gunn and Steve McCullar officiating. Graveside services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, in Lakeview Cemetery, Lenoir City, Tenn. Mr. McCall was born in Abbeville on February 18, 1915, a son of the late Archibald and Vandella Outlaw McCall. He was a Postmaster and a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in World War II. Mr. McCall was a 32nd Degree Mason, a Shriner and member of Scottish Rite and was past master of Masonic Lodge #69 in Orlando, Fla. He was preceded in death by three wives, Jo Yancey McCall, Betty Kennison McCall and Carrie Stovall McCall. Graveside services will be held in Florida. Survivors include four daughters, Betty Palmer, Riverdale, Barbara Abercrombie, Alabaster, Ala., Samantha Luty, Castelbury, Fla., and Sylvia Oertel, Carnesville; one brother, Clyeo McCall, Pennsylvania; one sister, Gladys Lowery, Florida; four grandsons and four great- grandchildren. Born in Hart County on October 18, 1930, Mrs. Brown was a daughter of the late Seaborn and Estelle Stephens McCollum. She worked as a seamstress in the textile industry and was of the Baptist denomination. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband, Julian (Dick) Brown, and a sister, Mary Tuck. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 10, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with the Rev. Bert Synan officiating. Burial was in the Mill Shoal Baptist Church Cemetery. Parten Mrs. Molcey Elizabeth Dawkins Parten, 69, of the Sandy Cross Community, Royston, died Sunday, May 11, 2003, at her home. Mrs. Parten was born in Hart County on July 23, 1933. She was a daughter of the late Grover D. and Frances Cheek Dawkins. Mrs. Parten was retired from Oxford Industries, with 43 years of service, and was a member of Pennington Chapel United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Parten. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, at Pennington Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Earl Goode officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Parten’s nephews, Jimmy Fortson, David Parten, Terry Peeples, Billy Anderson, Doug Jones and Ricky Peeples, served as pallbearers. Survivors include two sons, Benne Parten, Peachtree City, and Stephen Parten, Sandy Cross; one daughter, Sylvia P. Cowen, Solo, Mo.; one brother, Larry Dawkins, Royston; three sisters, Joyce Roach, Royston, and Evelyn Peeples and Deborah Bryant, both of Canon; and six grandchildren, Jonathan Franks, Derek Parten, Benjamin Parten, Jared Parten, Karen Parten and Wesley Parten. A native of Madison, Mr. Sorrow was a son of the late Horace and Mae Sue West Sorrow. He was an electrical contractor and a member of Rock of Ages Prison Ministry. Mr. Sorrow was also affiliated with Camp Maranatha and was a member of Joy Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Gloria Sorrow, and two sons, Roger L. and David M. Sorrow. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 15, at Joy Baptist Church with the Revs. Barry Black and Ray Jenkins officiating. Burial will be in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. Sammy Shannon, Steve Filkins, Al Slaton, David Sorrow, Chris Parr and David Aldrick will serve as pallbearers. Survivors include four daughters, Kathy D. Hansford, Ila, Karen S. Sorrow, Danielsville; two sisters, Pat Martin, Clemson, S.C., and Florence Clem, Destin, Fla.; one brother, Gene Sorrow, Evans; 15 grandchildren, eight great- grandchildren and nieces and nephews. The family is at the residence of Greg and Tammy Hannah, 252 Spring Branch Road, Danielsville, and was to have received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Brown Funeral Home, Danielsville.
