A native of North Carolina, Mr. Coley lived in the area for the last 36 years. He was the son of the late Hoyle and Ruth Holshouser Coley. Mr. Coley was a retired electrical contractor and a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in the Korean War and on the U.S.S. Oriskany. He was preceded in death by a son, Greg Coley. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 20, in Colbert Cemetery with Chaplain Mark Fite officiating. Mr. Coley is survived by his wife, Wanda M. Coley; three sons, Kenneth Coley Jr., Athens, David Coley, Kannapolis, N.C., and Chris Bjornlie, Hull; two daughters, Jerene Webster, China Grove, N.C., and Tracy Curlee, Athens; two sisters, Rainelle Aycock, Badin, N.C., and Joanne Mauldin, South Brunswick, N.C.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Daniell Dennis Troy Daniell, 62, of Commerce, died Saturday, October 18, 2003, at his residence following an extended illness. Born in Haralson County on September 11, 1941, Mr. Daniell was a son of the late Troy and Pauline Hannah Daniell. He was a self-employed grading contractor and was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church, Buchanan. Mr. Daniell was also a member of Masonic Lodge #444, becoming a Master Mason in 1979, and serving as Worshipful Master from 1986-1987. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 22, at Union Hill Methodist Church, Buchanan, with the Rev. Ronnie Coley officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Stewart Mrs. Ruby Spratlin Stewart, 83, of Charlotte, N.C., died Saturday, October 18, 2003, at Britthaven Nursing Home. Mrs. Stewart was born July 1, 1920, in Hull, to the late David Pope Spratlin and Lucille Williams Spratlin. “She was first and foremost a devoted mother to her children,” said family members, “traveling with them and her U.S. Army Major, 82nd Airborne, Special Forces husband to U.S. military bases in Europe, including three years in Germany, and tours at Fort Bragg, N.C., Fort McPherson and Fort Benning.” Mrs. Stewart was a former downtown Atlanta Rich’s Department Store beautician. She was also a “talented seamstress, a gifted gardener and a wonderful southern cook,” it was stated. Mrs. Stewart was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Xenophon Stewart, a daughter, Cynthia Stewart Lawrence, and a son, Don Stewart. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 22, at Hull Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. She was a homemaker and a member of Hull Baptist Church. Mrs. Landry was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Landry. She was a homemaker and a member of Bible Baptist Church. Mrs. Hilley was preceded in death by two brothers, Eddie Lee and Randy Lee.
