Born in Banks County, Mrs. Daves was a daughter of the late Claude and Cora Eller Daniel. She was employed with Harmony Grove Mills, Commerce, for 35 years, and was retired from Athens Heritage Nursing Home as a housekeeper. Mrs. Daves was a member of Ila Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Daves. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 18, in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home, Danielsville, with the Revs. Albert Vaughn and Douglas Duncan officiating. Burial was in Ila Cemetery. Dexter Calhoun, Ricky Daniel, Jimmy Bird, Junior McGee, Ronnie Williams and Tim Jackson served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Tim and Webb Gordon. A native of Oglethorpe County, Mrs. Cunningham was a daughter of the late Henry and Maggie Edward. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jacqueline Collins. Mrs. Cunningham was a member of Thankful Grove Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 24, at Piney Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. John Dillard, Gregory Roseboro and William Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Henry Cunningham, Nathaniel Collins, Curtis Collins, Clifford Gilham, Hubert Howard and Thomas Krogulsk will serve as pallbearers. Survivors include two sisters, Mary Walker and Ruby Carter, Ohio; three granddaughters and one great-grandchild. The family is at the residence located at 99 Piney Grove. She was the daughter of the late Dave Berry and Lula Ann Thurmond Williams. Mrs. Wilkes was retired from Wilkins Industries and was a member of Erastus Christian Church. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and a member of Burts United Methodist Church. Mr. Barrett was born April 6, 1942, in Jackson County, a son of Beulah Savage Barrett Archer, Hartwell, and the late Frank Barrett. He was preceded in death by a son, Randy Barrett, and a brother, Willis Barrett. Mr. Barrett was a retired employee of the textile industry. Williams Miss Mattie Luree Williams, 96, of Danielsville, died Tuesday, April 22, 2003. A native of Madison County, Miss Williams was a daughter of the late James B. and Lula Carlton McGinnis Williams. She attended Ila High School and received diplomas from Athens Business College in stenography and a master of accounts in 1924. Miss Williams held several secretarial positions in the Athens and Atlanta areas and worked for War Production Agency during the entire time of World War II. She retired from the IRS in the late 1960’s, moving from Marietta to Danielsville, where she made her home in November 1968. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 25, at Danielsville Baptist Church with the Revs. Alvin Hodges and Mike Hudmon officiating. Burial will be in Chandler Cemetery, Commerce. Miss Williams’ nephews will serve as pallbearers. Survivors include a sister-in-law, Sara Williams, Stone Mountain; 10 nieces and four nephews. Hembree Randolph James Hembree, 72, of Nicholson, died Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at his residence of an extended illness. A native of Jackson County, Mr. Hembree was the son of the late James Thomas and Mary Ruth Wilson Hembree. He was active in Gospel Tracts and Bibles and was of the Baptist denomination. Mr. Hembree was preceded in death by a son, Aaron Hembree. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 18, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Ralph Arnold officiating. Burial was in the New Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Hembree is survived by his wife, Barbara M. He was an honorary carpenter for 32 years with the Local #225 and was a member of Gordon Church, where he served as a deacon.
