Lucas Tony Dwayne Lucas, 36, of Hull, died Monday, May 19, 2003. A native of Atlanta, Mr. Lucas was a son of the late William Thomas and Carol Roach Lucas. He was a painter. Williams, 77, of Commerce, died Sunday, May 25, 2003. Born in Madison County, Mrs. Williams was the daughter of the late J.O.M. and Bessie Hardeman Smith. She was retired from the Federal Building in Athens, where she was employed with the Soil Conservation Department, and was a member of Ila Baptist Church. Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Williams. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, in Ila Cemetery with the Rev. Phil Parks officiating. Mrs. Williams is survived by three sons, Ronnie Williams, Danny Williams and David Williams, all of Commerce. Prather Samples, 66, of Jefferson, died Monday, May 26, 2003, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce, of a sudden illness. Mrs. Samples was born March 29, 1937, in Clarke County, a daughter of the late Odell and Mattie Madison Prather. She was a homemaker and a member of Sandy Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Samples was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Samples. Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, in the White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery, Jefferson, with the Rev. Don Harber officiating. McKeever Mrs. Trudy Lee Johnson McKeever, 74, of Commerce, died Saturday, May 24, 2003. Mrs. McKeever was born June 8, 1928, in Madison County, a daughter of the late Henry and Lillie Johnson. She was a homemaker and a member of Fairfield Baptist Church. Moving to Commerce, Mrs. McKeever joined Warren Chapel United Methodist Church, where she was an active member until her health failed. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Mary Jean Pittman and Kathryn E. Almond. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 27. Burial was in Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce, with the Rev. Dough Childers officiating. Boggs Thomas Neese Boggs died November 26, 2002, in Nashville, Tenn. A service of interment of ashes will be held in the Danielsville Cemetery at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 1, 2003. Mr. Boggs was born in Danielsville on October 27, 1916, to James Hoyt and Janie Lee Boggs. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Susan, his brother, Harold, and his first wife, Jane. Mr. Boggs was employed for many years by LeTourneau Westinghouse and lived in Toccoa, where he and Jane raised two children, Janna and Neese. In 1964, the family moved to Peoria, Ill., where Mr. Boggs became vice president of Industrial Relations for WABCO (American Standard Co.). In 1970, Mr. and Mrs. Boggs retired to Lake Hartwell. Mr. Boggs married Lillian C. Appleby, of Nashville, Tenn., in 1984. He is survived by his wife, two children, three grandchildren and one great-grandson. Barnett Charles Thad Barnett, 32, of Nicholson, died Saturday, May 24, 2003, at Athens Regional Medical Center. Mr. Barnett was born December 4, 1970, in Jackson County, a son of Mary Lou Sanders Barnett, Nicholson, and the late Sport Barnett. He was preceded in death by a brother, Terry Barnett. Chapman Mrs. Annie Ruth Maddox Cary Chapman, 79, of Royston, died Tuesday, May 27, 2003, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville. Mrs. Chapman was born August 13, 1923, in DeKalb County, a daughter of the late Curtis and Millie Nett Lowe Maddox. She was a homemaker and of the Methodist denomination. Mrs. Chapman was preceded in death by her first husband, Carval A. Cary, a brother, Joe D. Maddox, and a sister, Geraldine Silvey. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 29, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with the Revs. Wendall Hanley and Randall Porter officiating. Burial will be in Cary Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Chapman’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Mrs. Chapman is survived by her husband, Boyce S. Tiller Larry James Tiller, 54, of Kernersville, N.C., died Wednesday, May 21, 2003, at High Point Regional Hospital. Mr. Tiller was born August 18, 1948, in Athens, a son of James Fred Tiller and Ruth Tucker Tiller. He was employed as a plant manager with Alma Desk for 24 years and was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. A veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, Mr. Tiller served in the U.S. Army and was awarded the Bronze and Silver Star. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. On October 2, 1976, he married Marla Byrum, who survives of the home. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 23, at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Pastor Russ Reaves officiating. Burial was in the Floral Garden Park Cemetery with military honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Shelly Henry, and husband, Travis, High Point, N.C., and Julie Culler, and husband, Brian, Thomasville, N.C.; one son, Larry Brock Tiller, and wife, Traci, Kernersville, N.C.; one brother, Dennis Tiller, and wife, Diarene, Comer; an uncle and aunt, Dean and Hazel Troup, Fitzgerald; and several nieces and nephews.
