Cannon Ms. Patricia B. Cannon, 77, of Hull, died Friday, June 27, 2003. A native of Long Island, N.Y., Ms. Cannon was the daughter of the late Benedict Asher and Ruth Meserole Caldwell Williams. She was the wife of the late Herbert Cannon. Ms. Cannon was a personal nursing aide. Survivors include a son, Rick Bullard, Hull; and two grandchildren. Phillips, 74, of Hull, died Wednesday, June 25, 2003. A native of Hazelhurst, Ms. Phillips was a daughter of the late Seabern and Bertha Lilly Duck Smith Reed. She was the wife of the late Lonnie B. Phillips. Ms. Phillips was a homemaker and of the Christian faith. Born August 22, 1911, in Paulding County, she was a daughter of the late Sanford and Maggie Murrah Rutherford. Mrs. Wright was a homemaker and a member of the Lavonia Church of God. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Marvin Wright Sr., and siblings, Oscar Rutherford, Floyd Rutherford, Raymond Rutherford, Buck Rutherford, Doris Cantrell and Francis Davis. A native of Royston, Mr. Simms was a son of the late Clarence Milton and Alma Ray Simms, and the husband of the late Mary Ellen McElroy Simms. He was employed in construction work in Atlanta. Epps, 76, of Athens, died Sunday, June 29, 2003. A native of Elbert County, Mr. Epps lived in Athens for most of his life. He was a son of the late Seab and Cora Epps. His brother, Roy Epps, and sister, Florene Herbert, preceded him in death. Mr. Epps was a car salesman for 40 years and was most recently employed by Advantage Behavioral Health Systems. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and attended Oconee Heights Baptist Church. Mrs. McGarity was born November 6, 1925, a daughter of the late Thomas Franklin Bryant and the late Gennie V. Phillips Bryant. Mrs. McGarity was a homemaker and of the Baptist denomination. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe McGarity, a son, Gregory Ray Myers, three sisters, Willie Bryant, Lottie Dell Bryant and Myrtle Lou Gordon, and four brothers, S.T. Mrs. Bennett was born in Franklin County on December 11, 1918, a daughter of the late Ferd and Lettie Hill York. She worked as a seamstress in the textile industry and was of the Methodist denomination. Mrs. Bennett was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Pierce Bennett, a daughter, Lane Brown, three grandchildren, Robin Jordan, Anthony Jordan and Wayne Williams, a brother, Bill York, and two sisters, Offie Hayes and Lottie Bennett. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 29, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with the Rev. Eldon Massey officiating. Burial was in Oakview Cemetery, Canon. She was a daughter of the late Wattie Davis and Leora Noell Bridges. Mrs. Perry was a homemaker and a member of Berea Baptist Church. Leard Mrs. Betty Chambers Leard, 54, of Royston, died Tuesday, July 1, 2003, at Cobb Memorial Hospital in Royston. Mrs. Leard was born March 26, 1949, in Madison County, a daughter of the late Charlie and Bertie Goss Chambers. She was a retired secretary with Danielsville Elementary School and attended Faith Valley Holiness Church. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 3, at Faith Valley Holiness Church with the Revs. Sammy Kershaw and Danny Weatherman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Herman Peppers, Ronnie Goss, Larry Goss, Mitchell Goss, Melvin Dutton and Bobby Chandler will serve as pallbearers. Mrs. Leard is survived by her husband, Marshall Leard, Royston; a sister, Lucille Dutton, Lavonia; and several nieces and nephews. The family is at the home and was to have received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
