Kincaid William Harold Kincaid, 92, of Colbert, died Friday, April 25, 2003. Born in Madison County, Mr. Kincaid was a son of the late William Fleming and Bessie Eberheart Kincaid. He was retired from Pittsburgh Glass Company, Miami, Fla., and had been employed with Glazer Glass Company of Athens. Mr. Kincaid was a member of Union Christian Church, Watkinsville. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 27, in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home, Danielsville, with Mr. Kincaid’s step-son, the Rev. John M. Whitehead, officiating. Cheatham, 79, of Colbert, died Tuesday, April 22, 2003. A native of Madison County, Mr. Cheatham was a son of the late Thurman and Faye McCurdy Cheatham. He retired from the maintenance department of both Chicopee Manufacturing and the Clarke County School System and was a member of Central Baptist Church. Mr. Cheatham was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Cheatham, and a daughter, Brenda Kay Cheatham. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 24, in the chapel of Bernstein Funeral Home, Athens, with the Revs. Raymond Duncan and Joe Dooley officiating. Mr. Smith was born in Franklin County on January 12, 1952, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert M. and Lattrell Beatenbough Smith, Royston. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, where he was a member of the Helicopter Crew performing the duties of a Door Gunner and Rescue Person. Mr. Smith attended Mill Shoal Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Fay Teade Smith, and a sister, Martha Jean Smith. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 28, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with the Rev. Randy Smith officiating. Burial was in Oakview Cemetery, Canon. Born in Monroe County, Ill., Mrs. Spinks was a daughter of the late William and Frieda Vogt Doerr. She was a homemaker and a member of Moon’s Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. Spinks was also a member of the Eastern Star Athens Chapter 268 for 25 years. She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Lester Chandler. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, at Moon’s Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Tony Lee and Tom Dial officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Cox was born in Westminster, S.C., on January 12, 1940. He was a son of the late Clifford Cox and Lucile Chastain Cox Powell. A veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard, Mr. Cox was a retired truck driver and a member of Price Chapel Church of God. Hollis Mrs. Thelma Ewing Hollis, 76, of Jefferson, died Tuesday, April 29, 2003, at her residence following a sudden illness. Mrs. Hollis was born in Oglethorpe County on January 22, 1927. She was a daughter of the late Theodore J. and Flora Bell Freeman Ewing. Mrs. Hollis was a retired machine operator with Jefferson Mills, with 43 years of service, and was of the Holiness denomination. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 1, in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, with Minister Tom Plank officiating. Burial will be in Woodbine Cemetery, Jefferson. Survivors include two daughters, Ann Akins, Ila, and Janie Walker, Commerce; two sons, Steve Hollis, Jefferson, and Tommy Hollis, Danielsville; two sisters, Louise Cannon, Athens, and Willie Holder, Cleveland; one brother, Jerry Ewing, Monroe; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Born in Franklin County on September 5, 1937, Mrs. King was a daughter of the late Ezra and Liddie Peeples Garner. She was employed with Georgian Cleaners in Lavonia, and was of the Baptist denomination. In addition to her parents, Mrs. King was preceded in death by twin brothers, John and Henry Garner. Thomas, 74, of Danielsville, died Saturday, April 26, 2003. A native of Fannin County, Mr. Thomas was a son of the late James Glen and Willie Nell Lankford Thomas. He was the husband of the late Alpha Bobbie Bennett Thomas. Mr. Thomas was a retired pressman with McGregors Printing of Athens, a retired custodian with the Madison County Board of Education and owner of The Strike Zone Batting Cages in Danielsville. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Korean Conflict, and attended Friendship Baptist Church. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 28, in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home, Danielsville, with the Rev. Dayton Logan officiating. Burial was in Danielsville Memorial Gardens. Keenan Charles Stacy Keenan, 35, of Nicholson, died Tuesday, April 22, 2003, of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. A native of Clarke County, Mr. Keenan was a son of Charles Davis Keenan, Nicholson, and the late Margaret Flynn Keenan. He was a mechanic and a member of Antioch United Methodist Church.
