Parham Donald Edward Parham, 80, of Colbert, died Wednesday, October 29, 2003, at his residence. Mr. Parham was the son of the late John M. and Nora Wall Parham. A veteran of World War II, he was retired from Westing House, in Athens, and was a member of Colbert United Methodist Church. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Friday, October 31, at Colbert United Methodist Church with the Rev. James Haralson officiating. Burial was in the Meadow Family Cemetery, Colbert. Mr. Parham’s nephews served as pallbearers. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Meadow Parham; one daughter; Diane Sorrow, Winder; three sisters, Allene Carithers, Bogart, and Evelyn Parham and Carrollette Cary, both of Danielsville; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. (Ruby Deara) Clark, of Danielsville, died Monday, November 3, 2003, at her residence of an extended illness. A native of Banks County, Mrs. Clark was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Davis. She was the wife of the late C.L. Clark. Mrs. Clark was of the Baptist denomination. She was preceded in death by a son, David Clark, a sister, Mary Lou Fowler, and two brothers, Robert Davis and Cecil Davis. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 5, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Vaughn Howington officiating. Burial was in Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce. Bennett Mrs. Jessie Louise Landers Bennett, 85, of Issaquah, Wash., died Thursday, October 30, 2003, at Hearthside of Issaquah. Mrs. Bennett was born November 11, 1917, in Madison County, a daughter of the late James Knox and Susan Effie Porterfield Landers. She was a beautician and of the Southern Baptist denomination. Mrs. Bennett was preceded in death by her husband, William Doyle Bennett, a brother, James Elmer Landers, and a sister, Mayo Landers Cook. Funeral services were held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 4, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with the Rev. Tim Peek officiating. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 5, in the Jones Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Anglin Jessie Grover Anglin, 75, of Danielsville, died Friday, October 31, 2003. A native of Madison County, Mr. Anglin was a son of the late Elmer and Ella Hunnsinger Anglin. A native of Oglethorpe County, Mr. Arnold was the son of the late Otis and Elsie Johnson Arnold. A veteran of the United States Navy, Mr. Arnold served in World War II. He retired after 15 years as a building supervisor with the University of Georgia and was a member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church. He was also a farmer and an avid lover of flowers. Mr. Arnold was preceded in death by a precious granddaughter, Amanda Kay Brooks. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 31, in the chapel of Bernstein Funeral Home, Athens, with the Rev. Bill Ricketts officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Black Clyde Everett Black, 75, of Commerce, died Tuesday, October 28, 2003, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville. Mr. Black was born in Davidson County, N.C., on March 26, 1928, to the late Harvey and Lillian Rimmer Black. A retired Sergeant of the United States Army, Mr. Black served in the Korean War. He was of the Baptist denomination. Mr. Black was preceded in death by a grandson, Teddy Everett Black, and two brothers, Ray and Donald Black. Simmerson Mrs. Sybil Malcom Simmerson, 80, of Colbert, died Monday, November 3, 2003. A native of Morgan County, Mrs. Simmerson was a daughter of the late George W. and Aubye Ray Crawford Malcom. She was the wife of the late Rev. William Simmerson. Mrs. Simmerson retired from Colbert Elementary School after 34 years as an educator and was active in the Retired Teachers Association of Madison County. She also worked with Weight Watchers for 32 years and was a tax aide for AARP for 12 years. Mrs. Simmerson was a member and Sunday School teacher of Prince Avenue Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, November 6, in the chapel of Bernstein Funeral Home, Athens, with the Rev. Bill Ricketts officiating. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and John Peck, Colbert; sister, Jean Gordon, Marietta; and brothers, Keith Malcom, Eatonton, and Billy Malcom and Doyle Malcom, both of Monroe. She was preceded in death by a brother, George W. Malcom Jr. Mrs. Simmerson’s final request was that no flowers be sent. Being a cancer survivor, she asked that memorial contributions be made to the Loran Smith Center for Cancer Support, 1199 Prince Avenue, Athens, GA 30606. The family was to have received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Smith Christopher Shawn Smith, 32, of Hull, died Saturday, November 1, 2003. Mr. Smith, the owner of CSS Metalworks, was a self-employed artisan, blacksmith and metalworker. He was a member of ABANA, the Artist and Blacksmith Association of North America, and was associated with Happy Valley Pottery. Mr. Smith was the grandson of the late Rev. Alton Hudson and Vina Harris, Tennessee. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 4, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, East. Burial was in Athens Memory Gardens. Born in Harrisburg, Pa., Mr. Kotcher was the son of the late Andrew Kotcher and Bertha Zelininsky Kotcher. A longtime resident of New Jersey, Mr. Kotcher was retired from Bergen Wire and Rope, and had made his home in Comer since 1992. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Kotcher was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Rose Mastronardi. A funeral mass was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 5, at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, Butler, N.J.
