Rice Ms. Betty English Rice, 67, of Hull, died Friday, May 2, 2003. A native of Greene County, Ms. Rice was the daughter of the late Russell and Sarah English Copelan. She retired from Sears Roebuck & Co. and was a member of Hull Baptist Church. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 5, at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, East Chapel, with the Rev. Randy Crowe officiating. Burial was Tuesday, May 6, in Green Lawn Cemetery. Ms. Rice’s five grandchildren served as honorary pallbearers. Survivors include two sons, Stevan R. Rice, Danielsville, and Rusty Rice, Milledgeville; two daughters, Vicky Martin, Comer, and Mary Wood, Rutledge; and one brother, Dewitt English, Desoto, Texas. Jackson, 44, of Comer, died Sunday, May 4, 2003. A native of Anchorage, Alaska, Mr. Jackson was a son of Peter K. and Betty J. Jackson, Comer. He lived in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands before moving to Georgia in 1978. A private ceremony will be held. Survivors, in addition to his parents, include a son, Matthew Kay Jackson, Comer; and two brothers, Sam Jackson, Comer, and Frank Jackson, Bentonville, Ark. Minish, 86, of Commerce, a veteran of World War II, died Thursday, May 1, 2003, at Athens Regional Medical Center. Mr. Minish was born April 14, 1917, in Madison County, a son of the late Isom and Florence Langston Minish. He served in the U.S. Navy and retired from Harmony Grove Mills. Mr. Minish was a member of Berea Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice Evans Minish, and a son, Dembres Minish. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 4, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Revs. Grady Jordan and Ray Jenkins officiating. Burial was in the Erastus Christian Church Cemetery. Survivors include three sons, Gerald Minish, Terry Minish and Tommy Minish, all of Commerce; one daughter, Jean Hardman, Ocala, Fla.; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren. Miller James Daniel “J.D.” Miller, 75, of Danielsville, died Tuesday, May 6, 2003, at his home. Mr. Miller was born in Franklin County on September 29, 1927, a son of the late Joe and Katie Fowler Miller. He was owner of J.D. Miller Trucking, Inc. and was a retired poultry and cattle farmer. Mr. Miller was a member of Bethel M. Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for 24 years. He was preceded in death by two brothers, R.V. and Bobby Miller, and a sister, Betty Milner. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 8, at Bethel M. Baptist Church with the Revs. Kenneth Segars and Mike Sarna officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Ralph House, Franklin Fortson, Randy Watson, Herschel Dalton, Nick Adams and Charles Temple will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Coile and Garnett Moon. Mr. Miller is survived by his wife, Eula Mae Brown Miller, Danielsville; two sons, R. Edwin Miller, Comer, and J. David Miller, Danielsville; four brothers, L.C. Miller, Nicholson, Melvin Miller, Ila, Herbert Miller, Comer, and Rufus Miller, Athens; three sisters, Jettie Mae Coile, Danielsville, Frances Parr, Ila, and Jessie Lee Culpepper, Pelham; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Bryant was born in Franklin County on December 21, 1924, a daughter of the late Richard and Maude Whitfield Floyd. She was the wife of Troy Almond Bryant, who died on Friday, May 2. Mrs. Bryant was a retired inspector with Oxford Industries and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Bowman. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 3, in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. James Creason officiating. Everett Bryant, Jonathan Bryant, Tyler Wade, James Hill, Neal Floyd and Jon Creason served as pallbearers. Monroe Mrs. Ruby Nell Hart Monroe, 71, of Royston, died Wednesday, April 30, 2003, at her home. Mrs. Monroe was born in Franklin County on August 18, 1931. She was a daughter of the late Ralph Hart and the late Edna Hart Elrod, and the step-daughter of the late Frank Elrod. Mrs. Monroe was employed by the Royston Drive In for 30 years and was a member of the Royston Church of God. She was preceded in death by a sister, Dessie Kidd. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Friday, May 2, at New Hope Worship Center with the Revs. Dennis Kesler and James Gunn officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mr. Bryant was born in Hart County on July 6, 1918, a son of the late John E. and Della Seigler Bryant. He was the husband of Estelle Maude Floyd Bryant, who died on Thursday, May 1. Mr. Bryant served in the U.S. Army, was a retired sandblaster and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Bowman. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 4, in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. James Creason officiating.
