Services: 3 p.m. Monday at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel. Burial: West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday at Whitley's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at a family residence, at 1451 Christina Court in Kannapolis. Born: April 1, 1917, in Madison County, Ga. Parents: William Sorrow and Susie Lord Sorrow. She moved to Kannapolis in 1947. Occupation: Worked for Cannon Mills Plant 1, in the wash cloth and weave rooms for about 40 years until she retired in 1986. Religion: Baptist faith. Preceded in death: by her husband, William Thomas Smith in 1987; three brothers, Clifford, Ernest and Ruben Sorrow; two sisters, Mae Davis and Katie Lord; one granddaughter, Donna Shockley; and one great-granddaughter, Lauren Miller. Survivors: a daughter, Mary Ann Shockley of Kannapolis; a son, Billy Smith of China Grove; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one "adopted" grandson, Marcus Gabriel.
