Phillips W.T. Phillips, 81, of Danielsville, died Friday, April 16, 2004, at Athens Regional Medical Center. Born February 13, 1923, in Franklin County, Mr. Phillips was a son of the late Wiley and Lillie Phillips. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II. He was of the Baptist denomination. Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 18, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with the Revs. George Lovely and Ray Jenkins officiating. Burial was in the Bluestone Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Phillips is survived by his wife, Ouida Daniel Phillips, Danielsville; five sons, Dr. T. Wayne Phillips, Sundance, Wyo., the Rev. James M. Graham Mrs. Helen Gertrude Coile Graham, 76, of Comer, died Monday, April 19, 2004, at her home. Mrs. Graham was born in Madison County on November 20, 1927, a daughter of the late Thomas Goodman and Dezzie Lou Graham Coile. She was a seamstress and a member of Faith Baptist Church. Mrs. Graham was preceded in death by a brother, Ed Coile, and four sisters, Eunice Duncan, Lois Bridges, Edna Moon and Minnie Pierce. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with the Rev. James Creason and Odis Graham officiating. Duncan Jr. Ira Olden Duncan Jr., 80, of Comer, died Thursday, April 15, 2004. A native of Madison County, Mr. Duncan was the son of the late Ira Olden Duncan Sr. and Bessie Brown Duncan. Mr. Duncan was a United States Army veteran of World War II and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a retired supervisor with Alexander Wood Products and was a member of Meadow Baptist Church. Corder George Stephen Corder, 51, of Loris, S.C., brother of Minnie Ruth Horne, Ila, died Friday, April 9, 2004, at his residence following an illness. Mr. Corder was born November 4, 1952, in Whiteville, N.C., a son of Ann Davis Corder, Chadbourn, N.C., and the late Eugene Lewis Corder. Private funeral services were held. Mrs. Fortson was born in Madison County on September 15, 1911. She was a daughter of the late Ozzie and Jessie House Evans. Mrs. Fortson was a homemaker and a member of Bethel M Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a brother, DeVery Evans, and four sisters, Nobie Dalton, Etha Collins, Blanche Scarborough and Millie Burroughs. Mrs. Bond was born in Madison County on April 6, 1921, a daughter of the late Horace Lee and Ida Bray Hanley. She was a homemaker and a member of Royston Baptist Church. Mrs. Bond was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Crawford Bond, a brother, James Hanley, and two sisters, Lutrell Peeples and Betty Faye Ginn. Mr. Cheek was born in Hart County on April 10, 1920, a son of the late Burrus and Esther Cunningham Cheek. He was a farmer and founder of The Cheek Peach Orchard and a member of Bowersville Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon and a Sunday School teacher. Mr. Cheek served as Emeritus Director of the Federal Land Bank and was also a member of the Bowersville Masonic Lodge #595 and the Hart County Cattle Association. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II. Mr. Cheek was preceded in death by his first wife, Lorraine Barnett Cheek, two brothers, Leonard and Alton Cheek, and two sisters, Luna Mae Cawthon and Lillian Mason. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 22, at Bowersville Baptist Church with the Revs. Connie Ivester and Bobby Carson officiating. Burial will be in Bowers Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Roberson was born in Turner County on May 24, 1927. She was a daughter of the late Joseph Milton and Melzie Roe Hicks. Mrs. Roberson was a seamstress, a poultry farmer and a homemaker. She was a member of Old Canon Baptist Church. She retired from Oxford Manufacturing and was a member of New Bethel Congregational Holiness Church. Branning Mrs. Frances O’Neal Hardman Branning, 72, of Ila, died Sunday, April 18, 2004. A native of Jackson County, Mrs. Branning was a daughter of the late Royal Clayton and Edna Langston Hardman. She was a graduate of Commerce High School and attended Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville. She retired from the Internal Revenue Service as a division chief with 35 years of service. Mrs. Branning was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Hardman. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Mrs. Worley was born in Elbert County on January 21, 1943, the daughter of the late J.C. and Wilma Ruth Yearwood Rousey. She retired from a career in nursing and was a member of Price Chapel Holiness Church. Mrs. Worley was preceded in death by a son, Gregory Dean Worley, and a daughter, Carolyn Joy Worley. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 18, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with the Rev. Johnny Stowe officiating. Burial was in Hill Crest Cemetery. Survivors include a daughter, Lisa Renae Worley, Royston; half-brother, Billy Rousey, Royston; step-brothers, Claudie Pulliam, Athens, Wayne Pulliam, Bowman, and Jerry Pulliam, Royston; five grandchildren, Justin, Joshua, Matthew, Brandon and Daniel Worley; and one great-granddaughter, Maggie Leigh Worley.
