Born in Franklin County on July 3, 1968, Mrs. Brown was a daughter of Janice Grubbs Phillips, Royston, and the late Jerry Mitchell Phillips. She was a homemaker and attended Zidon Baptist Church. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, February 24, at Zidon Baptist Church with the Revs. Bert Synan and Andy Bond officiating. In addition to her mother, Mrs. Brown is survived by her husband, Tony Lee Brown, Danielsville; two sons, Mitchell Wade Felty, Indiana, and Jerico Caden Brown, Danielsville; one daughter, Erica Leigh Ann Chappell, Royston; one step-son, Christopher Lee Brown, Lavonia; and two sisters, Tammy Phillips Hart, Royston, and Tina Renea Phillips, Elberton. Stone III Walter North Stone III, 55, of Lawrenceville, died Sunday, February 15, 2004. A native of Statesboro, Mr. Stone was a son of Nora Newsom Stone and the late Walter N. Stone Jr. He was employed in business with Melton Home Theater of Atlanta and was of the Methodist denomination. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 21, at Gordon’s Chapel United Methodist Church with the Revs. Lawson G. Stone and Robert Passmore officiating. Dixon, 87, of Bogart, Oconee County, died Monday, February 23, 2004. Born in Franklin County, Mr. Dixon was a son of the late Arzo and Cora Mangrum Dickson. He retired from Athena Carpet Mill and was a member of Bogart Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 26, in Smith Memory Chapel of Smith Funeral Home, Winder, with the Revs. Russell Repeski and Albert Askew officiating. Burial will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens. Mr. Dixon is survived by his wife, Geneva Dixon, Bogart; daughter, Nancy Shelnutt, Bogart; son, Jack W. Fullington Joseph Berkley “Papa Joe” Fullington, 75, of Hull, died Thursday, February 19, 2004. A native of Dooley County, Mr. Fullington was a son of the late James and Adina Wilson Fullington. A veteran of the United States Army, Mr. Fullington served in the Korean Conflict and in Vietnam. He was a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked at Warner Robins Air Force Base. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church. Mr. Fullington was preceded in death by his first wife, Sue Fullington, a sister, Polly Gore, and two brothers, Lon and John Fullington. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 22, in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home, Danielsville, with the Revs. Elmer Butler and Ronald Cofer officiating. Burial was in the Vineyards Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Jeffery Moore, Bill Clark, Jerry Nix, Ronny Harris, Tommy Gaines, John Taylor and Bobby Jones served as pallbearers. Mr. Fife was born in Wellsville, Ohio, on November 1, 1928. He was a son of the late Leonard and Birdie Tice Fife. He was a retired Foreman with the Street Department in Naples, Fla., and was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Bowman. In addition to his parents, Mr. Fife was preceded in death by four brothers. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 24, at Faith Baptist Church with the Revs. John Creason and Paul Vickery officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Kennedy, 74, of Royston, died Monday, February 23, 2004, at his home. Mr. Kennedy was born in Appling County on April 9, 1929, son of the late James I. and Lois Sellers Kennedy. He retired as President of Farm Credit Service in Royston and was a member of Ten Mile Baptist Church in Baxley. Mr. Kennedy was a charter member of the Royston-Franklin Springs Rotary Club, a charter member of the Bowman Lions Club and a member of the Royston-Franklin Springs Chamber of Commerce. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a B.S. degree in forestry and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Mr. Kennedy was preceded in death by three brothers, Ted, Grady and Robert Kennedy. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 25, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with the Revs. Byron Greene and Todd West and Greg Kennedy officiating. He was a retired agent with Southern Railroad, having worked in Bowman, Royston, Cornelia and Toccoa. He was a former member of Toccoa United Methodist Church and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Warner Robins. Mr. McGarity was preceded in death by a brother, Perry Hall McGarity. Sconyers James Tulley Sconyers, 75, of Bowman, died Monday, February 23, 2004, at Cobb Memorial Hospital in Royston. Mr. Sconyers was born in Iron City on July 16, 1928, son of the late Jim and Minnie Dawson Sconyers. He was a United States Air Force veteran, having served during World War II, and retired as a staff manager in the insurance industry. In retirement, Mr. Sconyers worked as a cashier at the Circle K in Royston. He was of the Baptist denomination. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 26, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with the Rev. Ralph Hunt officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Larry Brown, Martin Carey, Billy Vickery, Reggie Vaughn, Frank Landreth and Jack Bryant will serve as pallbearers. Hart James Wiley Hart, 84, of Canon, died Tuesday, February 10, 2004, at Cobb Memorial Hospital in Royston. Mr. Hart was born March 6, 1919, a son of the late Otto and Mable Carey Hart. He was retired from the textile industry and was a member of Redwine United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Fox Hunter’s Association and was an avid quail hunter. Mr. Hart was preceded in death by two brothers, Woodrow and Belton Hart, and a sister, Macie Hart. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, February 13, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with the Revs. Eldon Massey and Larry Davison officiating. Mr. McCollum was born in Franklin County on February 5, 1914, son of the late Judge and Fannie Mae Smith McCollum. He was a carpenter and a member of Double Branches Baptist Church, where he formerly served as a deacon. Mr. McCollum was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 14, at Double Branches Baptist Church with the Revs. David Wilson and Jimmy Manus officiating. Burial was in Oakview Cemetery in Canon.
