Mr. Smith was born in Hart County on April 11, 1934, the son of the late James Erskine and Ruth Wright Smith. He was employed in the textile industry and was of the Church of God denomination. Mrs. Adams was born in Madison County on August 23, 1923, a daughter of the late Guy and Ida Brown Barrett. She was a machine operator and was a member of Community Baptist Church. Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her husband, Hope J. Adams, and a sister, Dorothy Seymour. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 29, at Community Baptist Church with the Rev. Phil Parks officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include two daughters, Cheryal Whipple, Wildwood, and Denise White, Balley Head, Ala.; one brother, Roger Barrett, Hull; three sisters, Magolene Hardy and Pat Purcell, both of Commerce, and Joyce Scoggins, Flowery Branch; three grandchildren and five great- grandchildren. Born in Franklin County on January 30, 1930, Mr. Carter was a son of the late D.W. and Nancy Saylors Carter. He was a former insurance salesman in the funeral industry and was a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church Mr. Carter was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 25, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with the Revs. David McConnell and Sonny Peevy officiating. She was the wife of the late James Ralph Smith. Mrs. Smith worked as a bank teller and was a homemaker. She was of the Christian faith. She was a retired office clerk with DuPont and was presently employed with Rite Aid Pharmacy in Royston. Mrs. Alexander was preceded in death by two brothers, Douglas Dickson Sr. and Bobby Dickson.
