Johnson Teddy P. Johnson, 47, of Comer, died Saturday, April 24, 2004. Born in Athens, Mr. Johnson was a son of the late Frank and Doris Johnson. He was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Johnson. Jones, 82, of Colbert, died Monday, April 19, 2004. Born in Polk County, Mrs. Jones was a daughter of the late Russell and Molly Martin Watson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Farris Jones, and a son, Harold Jones. Kress Mrs. Nicole Coutant Kress, 34, of Wondervu, Colo., died Thursday, April 15, 2004, in Coal Creek Canyon of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Mrs. Kress was born April 19, 1969, in Libby, Mont. She was a daughter of Gerald and Fern Woodard Coutant, Royston. She married Jerome S. Kress on May 28, 1994, in Fairfax, Va. Mrs. Kress was employed as a graphic artist with eTrinsic in Louisville, Colo., and was a member of the Colorado Bluegrass Society and the Swallowhill Music Association. “She enjoyed music, art, the outdoors and the beauty of God’s creation,” stated family members. “She was a loving daughter and a friend to all. Nicole will be cherished, always.” Mrs. Kress was preceded in death by her beloved nephew, Stacy Williamson. Family and friends gathered at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, at Axton Ranch in Colorado. A memorial service followed at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Forrest Whitman of Rollinsville Community Church officiating. A lifelong resident of the area, Mrs. Smith was a daughter of the late Foster and Flora Mae Smith. She was a homemaker and a member of New Life Apostolic Church. Mrs. Hendrix was born November 17, 1920, in Madison County, a daughter of the late John Bill and Bessie Moon. She was a retired inspector, having been employed by Oxford Manufacturing, and was a member of New Bethel Congregational Holiness Church. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 24, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with the Revs. Bruce Kesler and Raymond Duncan officiating. Mrs. Carey was born in Franklin County on March 11, 1915, a daughter of the late Lee Anderson and Lou Jimmie Stovall Jordan. She was a retired nurse, having worked at Royston Medical Associates, and was a member of Royston Baptist Church. Mrs. Carey was preceded in death by her husband, Junius Asbury Carey, three brothers, Steve, George and Lee Jordan, and three sisters, Francis Barton, Sarah Roach and Luna Mae Adams. A native and lifelong resident of Madison County, Mrs. Swann was a daughter of the late John W. and Mary Nash Gunnells. She was the wife of the late Robert K. Swann, and was preceded in death by two sisters, Rachel Williams, Cartersville, and Louise Gunnells, Hull, and one brother, Will D. Gunnells, Hull. Mrs. Swann was a member of Union Baptist Church. She will be remembered as a dedicated wife and loving mother and grandmother, it was stated. Mr. Hall was born in Madison County on June 24, 1912. He was a son of the late Lindsey and Addie Christian Hall. He was a retired farmer and a member of New Bethel Congregational Holiness Church. Mr. Hall was preceded in death by his wife, Hattie Dixon Hall, a brother, Herbert Hall, and a sister, Mylitie Smith. A native of Macon County, Mr. Ledford was a son of the late Harley and Nellie Watts Ledford. He was self-employed in construction work and was of the Baptist denomination. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ledford was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Sue Cowart Ledford, who died in 2002, a son, Dennis Ledford, a grandson, Allan Ledford, two brothers, John and Glen Ledford, and three sisters, Bessie Ledford, Kate Speed and Irene Ledford. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 24, at Gillespie Chapel Methodist Church, Franklin, N.C., with the Revs. Bobby Cloer and Douglas Duncan officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by members of VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108. Troup Mrs. Hazel Tucker Troup, 69, of Fitzgerald, died Wednesday, April 21, 2004, at Dorminy Medical Center. Mrs. Troup was born June 1, 1934, in Oglethorpe County, to the late Ralph and Gladys Black Tucker. She moved to Ben Hill County in 1952 from Oglethorpe County and was a former resident of Sycamore. Mrs. Troup was a homemaker, a seamstress and a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She taught the Lydia Sunday School Class. Mrs. Troup was preceded in death by a son, William Nathan Troup, and a sister, Ruth Tiller. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Friday, April 23, in the chapel of Paulk Funeral Home, Fitzgerald, with the Revs. Steve Hand and Danny Lovett officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery. Mrs. Troup is survived by her husband, Dean Troup, Fitzgerald; one daughter, Heather McWhorter, Rebecca; three grandchildren, Shelby, Gracie and Railey; two sisters, Shirley Melton, Lakeland, and Gail Knight, Fitzgerald; one brother, Walter Tucker, Fitzgerald; and several nieces and nephews.
