Tiller Mrs. Charlie Faye Tiller, 55, of Hull, died Sunday, June 27, 2004. A native of Perry, Tenn., Mrs. Tiller was the daughter of the late Charlie Franklin and Gussie Mae Turner Carroll. She was a homemaker. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home, Danielsville, with the Rev. Billy Fowler officiating. Burial was in Danielsville Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Tiller is survived by her husband, Lewis Tiller; two daughters, Sheryl Moore and Renee Toole, both of Hull; one son, Roger Dale Tiller, Hyrom; one brother, Paul Carroll, Tennessee; and four grandchildren. Powers James David Powers, 90, of Canon, died Thursday, June 24, 2004, at Cobb Memorial Hospital, Royston. Mr. Powers was born in Franklin County on June 24, 1914, a son of the late William F. and Lula Crowe Powers. He was a retired farmer and a member of Riverside Baptist Church. Mr. Powers was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Leola Hart Powers, two grandsons, David Coile and Neal Powers, four brothers, Aubrey, Jessie, Moody and Durey Powers, and three sisters, Ila Hemphill, Susie Stone and Cora Singleton. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 27, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with the Revs. Bill Avant and Roger Elrod officiating. Entombment was in Franklin Memorial Gardens, South. Terry Scoggins, Kenny Powers, Matt Human, Darrell Hart, Charles Crow, Thomas Crow, Greg Fleming and Sam Blalock served as pallbearers. Survivors include three sons, Melvin Powers and Bobby Powers, both of Canon, and Mitchell Powers, Royston; four daughters, Florence Coile, JoAnn Bond and Betty Lord, all of Royston, and Helen Scoggins, Ila; two sisters, Rena Crow, Jefferson, and Reba Johnson, Hartwell; 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and seven great-great- grandchildren. Mrs. Gerbovaz was a daughter of Sylvia Girardi Brown and the late Marshall Brown. She was employed as a radiology technician and was a member of the U.G.A. Catholic Center. A memorial service was held at 1 p.m. Monday, June 28, at the U.G.A. Catholic Center. In addition to her mother, Mrs. Gerbovaz is survived by her husband, Jay Gerbovaz; daughter, Sylvia J. Bradshaw, 85, of Darlington, S.C., died Wednesday, June 23, 2004, in a Florence, S.C., hospital after an illness. Mr. Bradshaw was born in Darlington County, S.C., a son of the late Charles and Lydia Williamson Bradshaw. He served his country in the United States Army for 27 years and was a member of the D.A.V. and the First Church of God. “Mr. Bradshaw enjoyed fellowshipping with his friends,” it was stated. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Samuel C. and Odell Bradshaw. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 26, in the chapel of Belk Funeral Home, Darlington, S.C. Mr. Brown was born in Franklin County on December 30, 1956, the son of Mrs. Frances Nelms Brown, Comer, and the late Jim Samuel Brown. He was employed as a machine operator with Overhead Door and was a member of Vineyard Creek Baptist Church. In addition to his father, Mr. Brown was preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie Sue Brown. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 25, at Vineyard Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Larry Green and Dennis Wester officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Fann was preceded in death by two brothers, Junior and Delmar Grizzle. Smith William Hugh Smith, 59, of Ladson, S.C., died Thursday, June 24, 2004. Mr. Smith was born in Franklin County on November 15, 1944. A veteran of the United States Army, Mr. Smith worked as a salesman and was a member of Tall Pines Baptist Church in Ladson, S.C. He was preceded in death by his father, Hugh Linder Smith. Wright Mrs. Doris Scales Wright, of 74 Washington Street, Com-merce, died Tuesday, June 22, 2004, at her residence of an extended illness. Mrs. Wright was a daughter of the late Paul W. and Calla L. Scales. She was a member of the Commerce First United Methodist Church, where she was a sponsor of the MYF. Mrs. Wright graduated from Young Harris College and taught school at Hickory Flat School and Davis Academy. She later was proprietor of Wrights Ace Hardware and Gift Shop. Mrs. Wright was preceded in death by three brothers, David F. Scales, Paul W. Scales Jr. and Peyton S. Scales, and one sister, Bess Scales Crawford. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 24, at the Commerce First United Methodist Church with Dr. David Bowen and the Rev. Jim McLendon officiating. Burial was in Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce. Mrs. Wright is survived by her husband, William C. (Bill) Wright, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Frankie and Jay Cook, Athens; a daughter, Paulette Wright Arnold, Birmingham, Ala.; a sister, Eleanor Scales Whitfield, Commerce; four grandchildren, Lea Anne Wallace, Robert E.
