Harris Miss Teresa D. Harris, 43, of Hull, died Thursday, January 22, 2004. Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, January 29, in Clark Cemetery. Miss Harris is survived by three sisters, Norma Harris, Covington, Tracey Harris, Crawford, and Wanda Harris, Hull; and one brother, Larry Harris, Hartwell. Mrs. Smith was a daughter of the late Earnest Lee and Flossie Edwards Hanley. She was the wife of the late Joseph “Joe” Smith. Mrs. Smith had worked in food service in the lunchrooms of Ila Elementary School and Madison County High School and was a member of Ila Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Kim Smith. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 29, in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home, Danielsville, with the Rev. Ray Jenkins officiating. Burial was in the Ila Cemetery. Survivors include two sons, William Smith and Steve Smith, both of Ila; a grandson raised in the home, Stephen Smith; six brothers; four sisters; four grandchildren and six great- grandchildren. Brown Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. -------------------------------------------- The Madison County Journal, February 4, 2004 Jim Schneider James Edward (Jim) Schneider, 74, of Canon, died Sunday, February 1, 2004, at Cobb Memorial Hospital in Royston. Mr. Schneider was born in Springfield, Ohio, on November 11, 1929. He was reared in the home of his uncle and aunt, William and Evangeline Grimm. Mr. Schneider retired from Jefferson Mills and was of the Protestant faith. He was also retired from the United States Army, having served during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. During his time in the Army, he served in General MacArthur’s Color Guard. Mr. Schneider was a member of the Lavonia V.F.W. Post #5897. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Angel Hope Schneider. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 4, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with the Rev. Johnny Stowe officiating. Burial was in Bowers Memorial Gardens in Canon with full military rites. A native of Macon County, Miss Ledford was a daughter of the late Harley Ledford and Nellie Watts Ledford. She was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Glenn Ledford, and two sisters, Bessie Ledford and Kate Speed. Miss Ledford was a member of Gillespie Chapel Methodist Church and attended Mount Zion Baptist Church. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 24, at Gillespie Chapel Methodist Church with the Revs. Douglas Duncan and Bobby Cloer officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Coggins was born in Franklin County on September 14, 1927. She was a former co-owner of Coggins Chevrolet and was a member of Royston United Methodist Church and the Ty Cobb Health Care Pink Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Coggins was preceded in death by her husband, Charles S. (Red) Coggins. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 31, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with Dr. Danny Barton officiating. Burial was in the Bold Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Coggins is survived by one uncle and several nieces and nephews. Argo, 89, of Royston, died Monday, February 2, 2004, at Cobb Memorial Hospital in Royston. Mr. Argo was born May 14, 1914, in Franklin County. He was a son of the late Joseph and Lena Burch Argo. Mr. Argo was retired from Johnson & Johnson and was a lifetime member of the Harrison McCreary V.F.W. Post #4828. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II as an Artillery Gunner. Mr. Argo was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Kirk Argo, two brothers, Eldridge and Roy Argo, and three sisters, Maggie Vanderford, Janie Ophelia English and Rose Stancell Parks. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 5, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with the Revs. Eldon Massey and Johnny Stowe officiating. Cowart, 90, of Athens, died Thursday, January 29, 2004. A native of Jackson County, Mrs. Cowart was a daughter of the late James Fred and Eliza Pullien Cowart. Her husband, Tom C. Cowart, and a son, Daniel Cowart, preceded her in death. Mrs. Cowart was a homemaker and a member of Johnson Drive Baptist Church. Mr. Evans was born in Madison County on January 22, 1933, the son of the late Devery Holland and Mayo Sorrells Evans. He retired from Oliver Tire & Rubber and attended Bethel M. Baptist Church and David’s Home Pentecostal Holiness Church. He retired from BASF Corporation and was a member of Royston Baptist Church. Mr. Dickson was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during the Korean War, and was also a member of the Harrison McCreary V.F.W. Post in Royston. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Dickson Isom, and a brother, Douglas Dickson Sr. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, February 2, at Royston Baptist Church with the Revs. Byron Greene and Brian David officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Royston.
