Mr. Gingrich is survived by two daughters, Sharlene Piskorowski, Texas, and Sophia Parks, South Carolina; one son, Norman Victor Phillips, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Helen Marie Dawson, Colorado, and Marjorie Phillips, Texas; six grandchildren, 11 great- grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Norton was born in Franklin County on February 3, 1956, a son of the late William E. (Bill) and Leottice Hunter Stowe Norton. He was a mechanic and a member of Hannah’s Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Norton was preceded in death by five brothers, Donnie, Richard and Rickey Norton and Larry and Jackie Stowe. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 2, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with the Revs. Johnny Stowe and Leonard Morton officiating. A native of Madison County, Mrs. Kidd was the daughter of the late Boss Mitchell and Maugie Smith. She was the wife of the late John Kidd, and was preceded in death by two children, John Gholston Kidd and Matilda Kidd Fleming. Mrs. Kidd was a homemaker. Powell, 77, of Nicholson, died Sunday, April 4, 2004. A native of Oconee County, Mr. Powell was the son of the late Robert Gibson and Della Mae Haynes Powell. A United States Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Powell was a retired cab driver for Your Cab Company and was of the Baptist denomination. He was preceded in death by twins. He was employed with the Madison County Board of Education and was of the Methodist denomination. He was preceded in death by a son, William Russell Sexton, and three sisters, Myrtie Lou Ingram, Geraldine McElreath and Shelby Jean Brown. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth Jean Ingram Burke. Mr. Burke retired from the United States Air Force, having served during the Korean Conflict, Cuban Crisis and the Vietnam War.
