Barnette, 78, well knw resident of Sanford, died at his home Tuesday afternoon at 83 o'clock. Mr. Barnette has been ill for the past several months. Services are to be held Thursday afternon at 3 o'clock from Gordon's Chapel Methodist Church with Rev. L. L. Fouche, pastor of Bishop Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Pittman Cemetery, Bridges Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pall-bearers will be A.L. Stone, Morton Mathews, Calvin fouche, Homer Epps, John Fields and A. F. Fouche. Mr. Barnette is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ludie Barber Barnette, Sanford; five daughters, Mrs. Len Graddy, Atlanta, Mrs. H. D. Massey, Athens, Mrs. W. A. Shinnick, Washington, D. C., and Mrs. Ethe B. Britt and Mrs. A. J. Blanch, both of Nicholson; son, John H. Barnette, Nicholson; three sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Williams and Mrs Henry Pace, both of Athens and Mrs. Minnie Archer, Atlanta; brother, J. G. Barnette, Nicholson; sister-in-law, Mrs. L. A. Barnette, Athesn; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren as well as a number of nieces and nephews. A native of Clarke County, Mr. Barnette had been a resident of Sanford for the past seventy years. He was a member of the Methodist Church and widly known farmer. The body will lie in state in the church from 2:30 o'clock until the hour for the service.
