B. BARRETT TAKEN BY DEATH E. B. Barrett, Sr. prominent citizen of the Poca Community in Madison County, died unexpectedly from a heart attack in Athens last Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock from Providence Baptist Church with the pastor, Rev. H. E. Doud, and Rev. Tom Hardman, officiating. Burial followed in Providence Cemetery. Masonic graveside services were conducted. Pallbearers were nephews of Mr. Barrett. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Evie Sorrells Barrett; four daughters, Miss Lerlin Barrett, Haines City, Fla., Mrs. Phillip Lowry, Rocky Face, Ga. and Mrs. T. A. Freeman and Miss Inez Barrett, both of Danielsville; three sons, E. B. Barrett, Jr. Savannah Beach, Mitchell Barrett, Jacksonville, Fla. and Billy Hugh Barrett, Toccoa; sister, Mrs. Susie Barrett Porterfield, Athens; two brothers, Mell Barrett, St. Louis, Mo., and Robert Barrett, Orlando, Fla., twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Mr. Barrett was 81 year of age, having been born December 28, 1879. He was a stalwart member of the Providence Baptist Church and prominent in Masonic circles in this section of the state. He was one of the most highly esteemed citizens in his community as testified by the large number of relatives and friends present for his funeral.
