William Lee Benton, 43, of Ila, died Tuesday, November 7, 2006.

A native of Clarke County, he was the son of Harold Benton Sr. of Jefferson 
and the late Yvonne J. Benton. He was a 1990 graduate of the University of 
Georgia. Mr. Benton was a member of the St. James United Methodist Church, 
where he played on the men’s softball team and coached women’s softball. He 
was a rodeo enthusiast, according to loved ones.

Survivors include his wife, Angela; his father; two brothers, Harold 
L. “Buddy” Benton Jr., Lawrenceville, and David J. Benton, Jefferson.

Funeral services were held Friday, November 10, at the St. James United 
Methodist Church. Burial was in Evergreen Memorial Park.  Lord & Stephens 
Funeral Home, East, Athens, was in charge of arrangements.
