Brooks Services Are Held Today


Services were conducted this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock from Bernstein's Chapel 
for Austin C. Brooks, who died unexpectedly from a heart attack Saturday 
afternoon at 1 o'clock at his home, 325 Pound Ave.

Rev. A. E. Logan was the officiating minister and burial followed in the Kidd 
Cemetery, Neil McElroy, Toots McCurley, Jack Hill, Buddy Jones, Lestus Dailey 
and Hoyt Anderson serving as pall bearers.

Mr. Brooks is survived by his wife, Mrs. Thelma Lester Brooks, Athens; three 
duaghters, Rita Jean Brooks, Laura Evelyn Brooks and Barbara Allen Brooks, all 
of Athens; parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Brooks, Colbert; four sisters, mrs. 
Garnett McCurley, Miss Lois mae Brooks, Miss Rebecca Brooks and Miss France 
Brooks, all of colbert; brother, Carlton Brooks, Colbert; grandmother, Mrs. 
Tom Brooks, Athens.

Mr. Brooks was 28 Years old and a native of Madison County.  He had been a 
resident of Athens for the past twenty-five years.
