MARVIN BURROUGHS
       RITES HELD

   Marvin Burroughs, 87, of Rt. 2, Carlton (Paoli Community) died Thursday in 
the Baldwin County Hospital after an illness of five weeks.
   Born in Madison County, he was a son of the late Jim and Elizabeth McCurdy 
Burroughs.
   He was a retired farmer and had lived in Madison County all of his life.
   Survivors include:  a daughter, Mrs. John Threlkeld of Milledgeville; two 
sons, Paul Burroughs of Colbert and Ralph Burroughs of Tucker; two sisters, 
Mrs. Nona Kidd of Comer and Mrs. Ula Martin of Elberton; two brothers, Roy 
Burroughs of Winterville and Tom Burroughs of Lithonia; five grandchildren; 
and 12 great grandchildren.
   Funeral services were held Saturday in the New Hope Presbyterian Church.  
The Revs. John Campbell and Dalton Carrington officiated.  Burial was in the 
Vineyards Creek Cemetery.
