J. Burroughs Dies Suddenly At her home in Ila, Ga. in the late evening of Jan. 16th, 1937, God called to His greater work and purer home our dear one, Mrs. T. J. Burroughs. She was born September 16, 1870 and spent her entire life in Madison County near Union Church and in around Ila, Ga. She was Susie Williams Ryden before her marriage to Tom Burroughs more than 22 years ago. All her life, even from a girl she has been a cripple and later in life she became practically deaf. Yet in spite of that she was always been a faithful and energetic housekeeper. Her ability as a cook was rare and she has been the means of making both her husband's lives possibly longer and much happier. Her many friends and loved ones have spent many happy hours and eaten many delicious meals there. She was loved for her sincere friendship and loving hospitality to all who knew her. In her going, not only the home, but the church, town and communtiy loses a member who possessed the sure charm of friendliness, dignity, frankness, courage, pride without haughtiness, cheerfulness, dependability and honesty; a woman of upright character, whose loss will be deeply felt. On the night of her death we believe God sent some of her "dearest ones" there to minister to her in the last hours as well as comfort and to help the one she left. As loved ones of her loving husband we don't know how to be grateful to God for this unusual blessing, even When we know God always provides a way for those who trust Him. They who were there did not realise at first that it was her last hours but God knew and guided. It seems that her life went out like a candle. For this, too, we are grateful. She went so easy and though we do not understand we believe we shall see her again on the Resurrection Day. She was buried at Ila by her loving husband. Officiating at the service was Rev. Carter, of Union Baptist Church wehere she was a member, Rev. Brown, of Ila Baptist church and Rev. Taffee of Ila Presbyterian Church. She was laid to rest by Little and Ward, of Commerce. Ga. We who were away again must say we are truly thankful that God saw fit to send loved ones there to help and comfort our fathers and grandfather. She is better off and out of her suffering, and so we leave her in His hands. She was gone to meet her Lord--And a voice within us whispers--.
