He was a native of Buncombe County, North Carolina, and had lived in Athens the past 10 years. Mr. Cagle was a member of the Gordon's Chapel United Methodist Church, Chairman of the Administrative Board of the church, and a Veteran of World War Ii, having served in the U.S. Army. He was associated with the Research Departmentof the U.S. Forest Services, University of Georgia. Funeral services were ehld at Gordon's Chapel United Methodist Church Saturday at11 a.m. Rev. Ralph E. Harris, pastor of Gordon's Chapel United Methodist Church officiated, assistsed by Rev. Robert Landford, pastor of Rockmart United Methodist Church and Rev. Dan Clark of Sardis United Methodist Church. Interment was in Sardis United Methodist Church Cemetery, Union, S.C., at 4:30 p.m. Survivors include: wife, Mrs. Ellen Youn Cagle, Athens; 3 daughters Mrs. Bonnie McCoy and Mrs. Vickie Shenk, Athens, Mrs. Karen Wilson, St. Matthews, S.C.; 1 son, Mr. David Cagle, Athens; mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Cagle, Pensacola, Fla.; 3 sisters, Mrs. Lavada Watts, Hendersonville, N.C., Mrs. Rugh Blakship, Fort Walton Beach,Fla., Mrs. Annie Lunsford, Asheville, N.C.; 3 brothers, Mr. Roy Cagle, Myrtle Beach, S. C., Mrs. Glenn Cagle, Pensacola, Fla., Mrs. Wilburn Cagle, New Orleans, La.; 9 grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Vincent Hix, Weyman Seagraves,Otis Dillard, Robert Hamilton, A. L.Stone, Roger Gober.
