Carmichael Held Tuesday Mr. Stonewall J. Carmichael died at his home in Comer Sunday morning at 8:25 o'clock following an illness of about two years. Mr. Carmichael was sixty-two years old; he was born in Loudon Tennessee, but he had spent the past thiry years in Madison county where he had large business intersts. He was one of the county's most prominent citizens, having served as Mayor of Comer, Chairman of board of Trustees of Comer High School. He was a Shriner, Mason, and member of K. P. and I. O. O. F. and also a member of Comer Methodist Church. Mr. Carmichasel was confined to his room a greater part of the time for more than two years, and had suffered much, yet those about him know he had shown a great resignment to his sufferings, especialy in the past few months, and had seemed happier than usual. The funeral was conducted Tuesday morning at eleven o'clcock from the Methodist Church by Rev. T. M. Sullivan, a former pastor, assisted by Rev. J. B. Brown, Baptist pastor and Rev. J. A. Grimes, Methodist pastor. Mr. Sullivan paid a warm and loving tribute to the loyalty and friendship to Mr. Carmichael as he knew his lage and generous heart while he was a pastor here. He spoke of his large contributions to church affairs, and his great personal friendship. Interment was in Comer Cemetery with Bernstein Bros. in charge of funeral arrangements. Actve pall bearers were: W. C. Birchmore, C. B. Ayers, G. W. Whitehead, W. H. Compton, . R. Dickerson, L. F. McConnell, J. T. Burden and Cliff Smith. Honorary pallbearers were: C. W. Johnson, C. H. Power, J. W. Draper; Buster Bird, Ed Wier, B. T Moseley, J. D. Thompson, L. A. Almond, C. W. Power, C. H. Barnes, Hamp Cox, E. W. Johnson, J. A. Sims, Ben Smith, G. W. Carithers. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Eberhardt Carmichael; two daughters: Misses Martha and Mary Caroline Carmichael; one sister, Mrs. J. G. Greer, of Loudon, Tennessee; two brother: Messers N. B. and J. H. Carmichael, of Ten. Numerous and beautiful floral offerings bespoke the love and esteem of friends.
