A native of Madison County, she was the daughter of the late John and Maude Hyde Scarborough. She was a retired bookkeeper and a member of Briarwood Baptist Church. Mrs. Chambers was preceded in death by her first husband, Hoyt Childs, and a granddaughter, Stacey Lee. Surveyors include her husband, Henry C. Chambers; four daughters and sons-in- law, Evelyn and James Adams, Betty and Robert Lee, Annette Chandler, and Jeanette and Bobby Ray, all of Watkinsville; sons and daughters-in-law, Curtis and Barbara Childs, Ila, and Larry and Linda Childs, Watkinsville; two sisters, Novis Carl, Tennessee, and Margaret Crenshaw, Macon; two brothers, Royce Scarborough, N.C., and Melvin Scarborough, Alabama; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Graveside services were held Wednesday, August 3, at Watkinsville Cemetery with the Rev. Michael Ricks officiating. Family members provided the eulogy. Grandsons served as pallbearers.
