WOODIE COLLIER CLAIMED BY DEATH Mrs. Woodie Collier, wife of B. S. Collier, prominent citizen of Oglethorpe County, died at an Athens hospital Sunday night at nine o'clock after an illness of several months. Funeral services were conducted from the residence Tuesday morning at eleven o'clock by Rev. A. E. Logan and Rev. C. F. Tidwell and interment was in the family cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Troy Porterfield, Alton Hardy, Powers Lawson, Dr. George Kelly, Jr., Donald Williamson and Fred Williamson. Mrs. Collier is survived by her husband, Mr. Ralph S. Collier, and four daughters: Mrs. Troy Porterfield, Mrs. Alton Hardy, Mrs. George Kelly, and Mrs. Powers Lawson; grandchildren: Gloria Porterfield, Troy Porterfield, Jr., Alton Hardy, Jr., Sidney Hardy, David Lawson and George Kelley III; two sisters Mrs. M. P. Moore, Williamson, West Virginia and Mrs. C. C. Mathews, Carlton; five brothers: Fred, Donald and Henry Williamson, all of Commerce and W. L. Williamson and George Williamson, of Inverness, Florida. Mrs. Collier, a native of Jackson County, had been a resident of this section for thirty-eight years, during which she endeared herself to all who knew her. She was a member of the Baptist church, staunch in her attitudes and unswerving in her convictions yet always gentle, sweet and well poised. In her home she reigned as a lovely wife and mother, ever spending her efforts in gracious love, finding deep and abiding joy in her family circle. She supported every worthy cause with a generous and unselfish hand.
