Thelma Mae Hope Compton, 85, of Comer, died Monday, September 11, 2006.

A native of Liberty County, she was the daughter of the late Leonard Sylvester 
and Ella Davis Hope. She was a homemaker and a member of Oak Grove Baptist 
Church. Mrs. Compton was preceded in death by her husband, James David 
Compton; and two children, James Compton and Linda Rowland.

Survivors include seven children and spouses, Carolyn and Charles Adams, 
Athens, Edith and Kenneth Munday, Kannapolis, N.C., Emmett and Debbie Compton, 
Hull, Patricia Horne, Kathy and Wilmer Wynn, Al and Ellen Compton, and Kelvin 
and Wanda Compton, all of Comer; fourteen grandchildren; and five great-
grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday, September 14, at Oak Grove Baptist Church 
with the Rev. James F. Creason officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church, Hwy. 172, 
Comer, Ga. 30629.

Pallbearers were Cody Threlkeld, Mark Threlkeld, Glenn Wood, Don Williamson, 
Mike Lunsford and Johnny Johnson.

Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, Danielsville, was in charge of arrangements.
