Carithers Dies Suddenly Today Mr. George M. Carithers, aged 79, of Comer, died at his home early this morning following a few hours illness. Funeral services will be conducted from Meadow Church, of which he was a memeber, on Sunday (the hour to be announced later), and interment wil be in the family cemetery with Bernstein Bros. in charge. Mr. Carithers had been as well as usual yesterday, had attended the funeral of a friend, and other affairs. About three o'clock this morning he became ill and died a few hours later. Mr. Carithers was one of the best known citizens of Madison County and his death brings sorrow to his hosts of friends. He was born in this County and had lived here practically all his life. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Nan Carithers; five daughters, Mrs. W.D. Gunnin, Sulphur Springs Texas, Mrs. E.C. Poole, Spartan- burg, S.C.; Miss Emma Carithers, Atlanta; Mss Amy Carithers, Comer; Miss Hilda Carithers, Comer; four sons: R.C. and Y.H. Carithers, Comer; John Carithers, Kannapolis, N.C., and Cornelius Carithers, Comer.
