The death angel came to a good woman on Mar 28, 1934 and carried a soul to its eternal resting place. Mrs. Matilda [W. E.] Daniel who at the time of her death was living with her daughter, Mrs. Earl Johnson, of Kannapolis, North Carolina. She had made her daughter, Mrs. Earl Johnson, of Kannapolis, N. C. She had made her home thee for some years, but previous to that once had lived in the county and near where she was born, that of Madison County. She was born April 11, 1859 and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Carithers, one of the oldest families in the county. She was married to William R. Daniel who preceded her in death May 15, 1923. Born to them were the following children who are now living: Buford T., Toombs R., J. Carlton, W. Roy, Mrs. J. C. Porterfield, Mrs. Earl Johnson, Mrs. J. W. Stephens, Mrs. Ausbon Langford, and one son, Everett, who died some years ago. Also, one brother, George M. Carithers. Sister Daniel was always kind, affectionate, loving, and always attentive to her Christian duties and the duties of her church. She united with Cedar Grove Baptist church several years ago, later moving her membership to Meadow Baptist church which was organized on July 25, 1912. No one has ever heard a word of criticism of her life and character; she loved her family and was a true wife, loving mother and friendly neighbor . We feel that her place cannot be filled. The funeral was conducted from Meadow Baptist Church on March 30, by Rev. W. B. Hancock and her son-in-law, the Rev. J. W. Stephens, with interment in the Carithers Family Cemetery. Therefore, Be it resolved: 1st: That we as church bow in humble submission to the will of God, and realize that our loss is heavens gain. 2nd: that we sympathize with the entire family and family connections and pray God's blessings so them during this trying hour of bereavement and point them to the one who has power to give and take away, for consolation. 3rd. That these words be recorded on our church minutes and a copy sent the Comer News for publication. Respectfully submitted, W. D. Meadow, J. A. Epps, Mrs George Nelms.
