M. Davis Dead On last Saturday at an Athens hospital occurred the death of Mrs. W. M. Davis, who for fifteen years had made her home in Danielsville, Mr. Davis having occupied the Sheriff's office for a long period. For the last six months they have made their home in Watkinsville where she was stricken, going to the hospital a short while ago, though the malady proved fatal in spite of best efforts to save her. Mrs. Davis was a member of the Baptist Church and had a large acquaintance in Madison county where she had a number of friends, besides having wide family connections. She is survived by the husband, W. M. Davis, three sons, Horace, Ed and Jimmy Davis; one daughter, Miss Johnnie Mell Davis, all of Watkinsville; three brothers: Messers Styles and Burney Blackwell of Bishop and Arthur Blackwell, of Perry, Ga, ; four sisters: Mesdames W. A. Holcomb, of Colbert, S. M. Davis, Danielsville, P. N. Miller, Kannapolis, N. C., Thomas Turnbull, Bishop, Ga., besides a number of other near relatives. The funeral was held in the Presbyterian church here sunday afternoon, the service being conducted by her former pastor, Rev. W. M. Coile, of Winterville, the interment being at Danielsville.
