O.L. DEADWYLER KILLED IN AUTO WRECK All this section ws saddened by the news of the tragic death of Dr. O.L. Deadwyler, which occurred on last Saturday night. The wreck occurred on the Winterville-Athens road about 3 miles out from Athens as Dr. Deadwyler and his son. O.L., Jr., were returning to their home in Carlton. Young Dr. Deadwyler was unhurt save minor injuries. The car in which theDeadwylers were riding locked wheels with another car going in the opposite direction, demolishing both cars and turning the heavy top over on Dr. Deadwyler rendering him unconscious. He was rushed to Athens but died before reached hospital. His body was brought back to CArlton and was laid to rest in Fork cemetery near there. The services were held in CArlton Baptist, of which he was a member, and were conducted by Rev. Phil W. Davis, of Lexington, a former pastor and a very close friend of the deceased. After the services at the church the body was turned over to the Masons and was laid to rest with Masonic honors. Dr. Deadwyler was a very prominent physician, very popular with his people, and quite a useful citizen in his town and county. The very large crowd and the floral offering bespeaks the esteem and love in which he was held by his people. Dr. Deadwyler is survived by his wife, three sons and one daughter, his mother, who is critically ill at present, several brothers and sisters, and a number of other relatives, who have the sympathy of their many friends.
