O. Duncan Passes; Funeral Today Mr. I. O. Duncan, Sr. well-known resident of Comer, died in an Athens hospital Tuesday afternoon at 4:45 o'clock. Mr. Duncan was 71 years old and had been ill for seven weeks. Funeral Services will be held this Thursday afternnon at 2:00 o'clock from Vineyards Creek Baptist church with the pastor, Rev. Dalton Carrington, and Rev. S. S. Williams, pastor of White Plains Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be at Vineyards Creek, Bridges Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be nephews of Mr. Duncan, F. A. Duncan, James Moon, Guy Moore, ____ Patton and Jerry Paton. Mr. Duncan is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bessie Brown Duncan; two daughters, Mrs. William J. Brown, and Mrs. H. K. McCannon, both of Comer; two sons, R. W. Duncan and I. O. Duncan, Jr., both of comer; mother, Mrs. J. J. Duncan; two sisters, Mrs. J. J. Moon and Mrs. Sam Patton, both of comer; brother, C. W. Duncan, Comer, and six grandchildren. A native of Elbert County, Mr. Duncan had resided in Comer for the past forty-six years and was a member of the Vineyard Creek Baptist Church. During his many years in Conmer he operated a barber shop, continuing until he became ill seven weeks ago. He was a member of Shannon Lodge No. 404 of Mason in Comer and a former member of the Madison County Welfare Board. He was one of Comer's best known citizens.
